Heartiest congratulations and gratitude to Shri @vinothragavend, who stood virtually alone and fought with courage, persistence and personal commitment against the previous DMK Government’s proposed ₹100-crore “Vallalar International Centre” project on the sacred Peruveli lands of the Sathya Gnana Sabha at Vadalur, associated with Arutprakasa Vallalar Sri Ramalinga Swamigal.

DMK wanted to pursue a Missionary agenda and tried to "hijack" Sri Vallar, a staunch Saivite, a staunch Hindu Saint of the 19th Century and show him more as a "secular human".

Vinoth Raghavendran's sustained battles before the Madras High Court and the Supreme Court have now resulted in the current Government abandoning the project as originally conceived and agreeing to protect the available Peruveli land.

This victory also exposes the deplorable failure of @BJP4TamilNadu in protecting Hindu Temples and Endowments in Tamil Nadu.

The Tamil Nadu BJP has shown miserable inaction in the Courts when Hindu temples, temple lands, denominational rights and established customs and traditions have required protection. Even more disgracefully, it neither meaningfully supported its own functionary, Shri Vinoth Raghavendran, in this prolonged Dharmic struggle nor publicly congratulated him after his success.

@AmitShah Ji ! A political party that seeks Hindu votes must stand with those who actually fight for Hindu causes—not abandon them when the battle reaches the Courts as TN BJP did.

@NainarBJP Ji! At least NOW, your party in Tamil Nadu can recognize his sustained good work and congratulate him !

Financial capital and intellectual capital belong to the individual who has it.

Social capital is social discipline which belongs to the society. We call it dharma in India. That is what has sustained our nation

West never recognised social capital till Robert Putnam and Francis Fukuyama spoke about it in 1990s

Social capital is rooted in relation based society.

A pure contract based society can't build or maintain social capital.

Fukuyama says family is the first institution that socialises a child into a responsible person

It is the first unit of social capital

Next is neighbourhood. Third is educational domain. Next is elder-younger interface. It keeps expanding. No individual is individual. Everyone is integral to the whole

Let me say what the basic unit of social capital, the family does in India. Just a few examples

Over 84% of present generation takes care of the elders

96-97% of physically disabled are taken care of by families

98-99 % of mentally disabled are taken care of by families

85-90% students are provided higher education by families

Can any state or institutional mechanism supplant it.

Good parenting and mentoring is inevitable. Family and society must align and work together
