To everyone celebrating the first flight on Qatar Force One today, understand what you are actually applauding.

A foreign government handed the sitting President of the United States a $400 million plane. American taxpayers then paid to retrofit it, with an estimated cost of at least another $400 million (some estimates far higher), for security and communications work in a Texas hangar since last September.

When Trump leaves office, the plane does not stay with the government. Ownership transfers to his presidential library foundation. In other words, he keeps it.

You are being asked to treat pure corruption as normal, to shrug at a President personally profiting from a foreign gift the taxpayers paid to upgrade.

In any other administration this would be the scandal that ends a presidency.

His name was Srinivas Kuchibhotla.

Born in Hyderabad. His parents called him Srinu.

He came to America in 2006 for his master's. Graduated with a 3.85 GPA. Worked his way up from software engineer to aviation programs manager at Garmin in Kansas.

His manager said one thing about him. Top of his class kind of guy.

He built a home in Kansas with his wife. Painted the walls himself. Installed the garage door himself.

A few weeks before he died, they had a doctor's appointment. They were trying to start a family.

He would have turned 33 on March 9.

On February 22 2017, he and his friend Alok stopped at a bar after work to watch a basketball game. An ordinary Wednesday evening.

A man there had been watching them for weeks. Told others they looked like terrorists.

That night, he walked up to their table. Poked Srinivas in the chest. Demanded to know their immigration status. Shouted get out of my country.

Other patrons threw him out.

He drove home. Got his gun. Changed his shirt so nobody would recognise him. Came back.

He fired eight rounds.

Srinivas died that night.

As the killer fled, he told someone he had just killed two Iranians.

Srinivas was Indian. From Hyderabad. Eleven years in America. Not one complaint against him. Not one rule broken.

His mother had asked him many times to come back if he ever felt unsafe.

He always told her he was safe.

His body came home to Hyderabad in a coffin. His mother wailed as it was carried through the streets in a flower laden carriage.

She said she would not allow her younger son to go back to America.

His father said whatever was destined has happened.

The killer got three life sentences.

Srinivas got a funeral at 32.

He did everything right. Degree. Visa. Job. Taxes. Never raised his voice at anyone.

None of it was enough.

His name was Srinivas Kuchibhotla.

Every Indian in the US deserves to know it.

🦔 Oracle laid off between 20,000 and 30,000 employees Tuesday morning, roughly 18% of its global workforce, via a single email sent at 6am EST with no prior warning. System access was revoked almost immediately after. The cuts are expected to free up $8-10 billion in cash flow. Oracle's stock has lost more than half its value since September 2025 and the company now carries over $124 billion in debt, up from $89 billion a year ago, with free cash flow running negative $10 billion last quarter.

My Take
Oracle posted a 95% jump in net income last quarter and still eliminated 18% of its workforce by email before most people finished their morning coffee. This is not a company in distress in the traditional sense. It's a company that made an enormous debt-funded bet on AI infrastructure and is now converting its workforce into cash flow to service that debt.

We've covered Oracle's AI gamble for months. The $300 billion OpenAI deal through Stargate, $50 billion in capital expenditure this fiscal year, over $124 billion in total debt. Multiple US banks have pulled back from financing Oracle-linked data center projects. Bondholders have sued Oracle claiming it concealed how much additional debt the OpenAI deal would require. The credit default swap spread hit a three-year high earlier this year, meaning debt investors are genuinely nervous about getting paid back.

The workers who got that 6am email built the products Oracle has monetized for decades. The bet that eliminated their jobs was made by people who were already paid regardless of how it turns out. That is the part of the AI infrastructure race that doesn't show up in the capex announcements.
