We need #UHC that is publicly funded. Private funding exacerbates an unequal system where wealthier clients get 1st-class care, while low-income patients face abusive debt-collection tactics or denial of life-saving care altogether.

IPPS is proud to partner with @HealthZA & @MRCza for this event.
Delighted to have been in the room for Prof. Brian Greenwood’s retirement lecture this week @LSHTM_malaria
What a life and career, with his role in advancing the cause of seasonal malaria chemoprevention enormous amongst so many other achievements! @SMCAlliance
Shocked and deeply saddened to learn about the sudden passing of Dr Faustine Ndugulile, @WHOAFRO Regional Director-elect.
My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, and the parliament and people of #Tanzania.

IPPS acknowledges @DrTedros's decision to maintain the PHEIC status for #mpox.
This decision underscores the ongoing challenges posed by the outbreak, including the limited development of diagnostics, therapeutics, & vaccines (DTVs) for response during the first 100 days.
🧵1/2
The Emergency Committee for #mpox met today and advised me that the upsurge of mpox continues to constitute a public health emergency of international concern — I have accepted that advice.
My decision is based on the rising number and continuing geographic spread of cases, operational challenges in the field, and the need to mount and sustain a cohesive response across countries and partners.
I call on the affected countries to scale up their responses and for solidarity from the international community to help us end the outbreaks.
Day 100 of the #mpox emergency🚨
In an op-ed for The Guardian, IPPS Chair Dr Mona Nemer reflects on the progress making diagnostics, therapeutics & vaccines available to respond to mpox over the past 100 days

Our seasonal malaria chemoprevention work and our @NIHRresearch funded FORECAST project — which intends to create an early warning system to prepare for and control mosquito-borne disease outbreaks due to extreme weather in #Uganda — were featured in the new MESA newsletter🎉
Brilliant @uniofoxford science expertise, Indian manufacturing @seruminstindia and immunisation work @gavi.
The result? A new malaria R21 vaccine rolled out in Côte d’Ivoire today that could save millions of lives.
That’s what international partnership delivers.
