@Eric_Erins I’ve previously calculated a crude estimate of this using tax assessor’s data (eg, looking at the proportion of properties with a taxpayer address identical to the building address), and it was 25-35% depending on the neighborhood.

Here is my syllabus. There are SO MANY things that I couldn't fit (and I'm presenting many more folks' work in class). Students write weekly reflection memos and have to discuss 2+ materials, so the podcast can count as one if they want.

Carole is extremely relieved, and she's grateful to the many, many people who emailed Cigna over the past 24 hours.

This is heartbreaking. My wife is a double-lung transplant survivor. I cannot imagine the grief this family must be feeling. Please join me in emailing @cigna CEO to request they reverse this decision. They are withholding life saving healthcare.

This means the area that a ZIP Code represents in the year 2000 may not be the same as it represented in 1990. Our ZIP Code Crosswalk helps correct for this error by bundling changing ZIP Codes into consistent, geographic clusters over time. Check it out at the link! (4/4)

But they're tricky to use like spatial units, because they don't represent static geographic areas. Instead, they refer to mail carrying routes for a particular set of addresses. So when a population increases/decreases in a particular area, ZIP Code boundaries change too. (3/4)

ZIP Codes are used frequently in spatial and demographic research. They're easily collected in administrative settings (most people know their ZIP Code, but not their census tract), and research in public health, epidemiology, and retail often relies on them. (2/4)
