A privilege to open the Governance & Resilience session with "Data From Disaster: Rasuwa–Bhotekoshi Flood 2026", and to share the stage with speakers and panelists building Nepal's digital foundation.

One line from the talk: in a crisis, verified information must travel at least as fast as misinformation. When it does not, something else fills the gap. That takes data resilience and a Digital Highway, shared digital infrastructure as critical as the physical road to Rasuwa.

Hon. Foreign Minister Mr. Shisir Khanal @shisir held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Mr. MOTEGI Toshimitsu, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, on the margins of #UNGA81.

Foreign Minister Mr. Khanal expressed deep appreciation to the Government and people of Japan for their sympathy, solidarity and humanitarian assistance following the devastating climate disaster in Nepal.

During discussions, Japanese Foreign Minister Mr. MOTEGI conveyed Japan’s intention to continue supporting Nepal, including through an Emergency Grant of USD 3 million, emergency relief supplies, DNA testing equipment, and the dispatch of experts to assist recovery efforts.

As this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Nepal and Japan, the Foreign Ministers expressed profound satisfaction over excellent and expanding bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to further consolidating mutually beneficial cooperation.
