Real challenge between Washington & London is to convince a significant percentage of policy makers, media, think tanks, universities and opinion makers of different sorts that this 60 years plus narrow, limiting, “Military/Intelligence Relationship” with Pakistan has to be replaced with relations with a “Democratic Pakistan” and Pakistan has reached a stage in its history & political evolution where a Democratic polity, representing the will of 250 million Pakistanis can work with Washington & London to curb regional terrorism, meaningfully engage India and will not become a Chinese satellite like North Korea!
Talking to several people in and around Washington, I fear they are still not ready to trust this - this defines our challenge!
