"THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the APA opposes state bans on gender-affirming care, which are contrary to the principles of evidence-based healthcare, human rights, and social justice" (APA, 2024, p. 2)
Got really tired of seeing Bronfenbrenner's bioecological model illustrated only w/ white boys. So we made a new (prettier) version centering Black girls.

For the first time, a randomized controlled trial has been published regarding gender affirming care.

🌈Hi y’all! I am a new counseling psychology faculty at the University of North Dakota & I am recruiting 1-3 students to join my lab beginning in fall 2024. Our APA-accredited counseling psychology doctoral (PhD) program is housed within our College of Ed. & Human Dev. 🏳️⚧️
Consider joining this APA spotlight webinar on authentically engaging communities in addesssing health equity - in which our doctoral student @ashmsmith__ from the @lab_berke will be a panelist!
Is it because distress isn’t being performed in the way you are used to seeing or need to see to activate the right type of response? Is it because you’re tired and don’t have the capacity to engage with the distress? Do people think we want to be in distress? That we enjoy it?
so proud of this article and the work it represents. while recruiting for this study, a community-led org called us in for the way our research failed to credit and benefit the community of women and femmes we asked to participate.
acknowledging, learning, and taking action from our failures let us create stronger partnerships with community, and improved the feasibility and acceptability of implementation. 'good' science = moving towards nonexploitation = centering community. @lab_berke
Texas has released a bounty hunter drag ban.
$5,000 bounty for hunters if a person performs while "exhibiting a gender that is different from gender recorded at birth" and "violates the community standards of decency."
Anti-abortion techniques now target drag and trans people.
One reason that cisableism is so powerful is too few trans people recognize it. Too often, cisableism is misinterpreted as pure cissexism (e.g., when trans medicine is called mutilation), which overlooks how ableism is an essential grammar by which transphobia is mobilized.
