Another topic I wish Uni had offered is "How to draft student work effectively/efficiently." Although after a year and a half I think I've picked up a couple of strategies.. any hot tips #teachers ? #educhat
@nomad_penguin As in reading through an extended piece of work, with written analysis, and providing feedback on the work submitted. E.g. an 8 page investigation in report style.
@LouiseCottell Do you find that these strategies are more time consuming than the traditional process (for students)? I think that peer feedback would also be powerful for students comparing/reflecting on their own work.
I have been looking for a good "worded maths problems" poster for months! Finally decided to stop searching and make one instead. Credit to @canva and @Officeworks for the print quality!
Help #MTBoS!
In the process of designing a stats task with focus on linear regression. I've found reliable data on salaries in AU, and trying to think of a second variable.. ATAR/Grad v Leadership is what I have so far. Any ideas for an investigation? #mathchat#mathteacher
Trying to design a Ss task that investigates the correlation between 2 variables (Stats - linear regression). Need 30+ data values that are easy to collect or accessible as secondary data. Any ideas?! #MTBoS#mathchat#iteachmath
@cjblesing It tells you that in a pressure situation they know/remember 80% of the test solutions... tells you 0% about how they behave.. without criteria/progression rubric, tells you 0% about how to improve.
Education is not a competition. Here's the research I quoted in today's @theTiser https://t.co/LIxI1nFct4 Acknowledgement also of @drtonywagner "The world doesn't care what our students know, what the world cares about is what our students can do with what they know." @saceboard
I think I get "Meta" (metaphorical, referring to self) and I think I get "Praxis" (connection between practice and theory)... I'm glad we have 3 years to try and get "Meta Praxis" though...
