I love Kannadigas for this particular quality. They take immense pride in the intellectuals and achievers who hail from their villages and hometowns.

The cabbie who drove me today proudly told me that S. L. Bhyrappa hails from his village. “Bhyrappa is the pride of Karnataka,” he said.

The other day, another cabbie proudly told me that Sir M. Visvesvaraya hailed from his taluk.

I genuinely love this about Kannadigas. ❤️

They have the right role models, the right inspirations, and a deep sense of pride in the people who have contributed intellectually and professionally to society.

That kind of admiration for knowledge, achievement and excellence is something worth celebrating.

Does anyone what script and language this is? Kannada? This is an 18th-century document I found at the British Library (In India Office Records, in a volume titled "Relations with Hyder Ali," p. 371nn). It was inserted between English documents. It looks like a bill of some sort.
