People often say in soccer,
“The conditions are the same.”
The pitch is the same.
The ball is the same.
The match time is the same.
But are they really?
Imagine a team full of players who compete professionally in Europe or the U.S. facing a team of players who work full-time jobs and play soccer on the side.
Training environments.
Practice time.
Recovery.
The amount of time they can dedicate to the game.
Can we still say the conditions are the same?
On the pitch, everything may look equal. But the conditions that bring players to that pitch are not.
The starting point is never truly the same.
Still, soccer is a sport where a team can win even when the starting conditions are different.
That’s why when those gaps are too large, directing all the criticism at the players after a defeat often misses the bigger picture.
Hey @ParthJindal11.. After all these accolades mentioned in @bengalurufc’s post, we couldn’t retain, 1st @aakashvinay17 & now @kunmajgaonkar, there’s surely something going south with @jswsports.. I may not be significant enough to advise, but it’s seriously time to contemplate!!
Last week we said goodbye to Kunaal Majgaonkar, someone who played an active part in building Bengaluru FC since before the club even had a name.
Twelve years on from joining as its first-ever Media Manager, Kunaal leaves having mentored several young media professionals - across content, video and design - into experts in their respective fields.
He was most recently Head of Content and Media for JSW Sports, across its several teams, IPs and other verticals.
Kunaal’s efforts in Bengaluru FC’s earliest days laid the foundation for the fan culture that the club enjoys today, and shaped the matchday experience across BFS and Kanteerava. For a little over a decade, he was the bridge between the Blues and their vociferous supporters.
Having led the creation of BFC’s award-winning digital language and presence, Kunaal pioneered campaigns, kit launches, brand activations and so much more.
The BFC family wishes him luck and light for all that lies in wait.
Once a blue, always a blue! 💙
Professional footballers in India have come together to speak in one voice.
“This is a plea to all those involved in running our sport in the country, to do whatever it takes to get the football season underway. India needs its competitive football now more than ever.”
🇮🇳 "This is a plea to all those involved in running our sport in the country, to do whatever it takes to get the football season underway. India needs its competitive football now more than ever."
India's footballers have penned an open leader to the game's leaders.
Ryan, we aren’t perfect. We have our flaws, and plenty of them. But what makes this place special is how people like you see beyond them. How you choose to belong not because it’s easy, but because it’s meaningful.
Welcome home, Ryan 🇮🇳
Nine years on, we’re looking back at a night that will never die. ♥️
October 19, 2016. You simply had to be there.
