@travis_robert I know this looks grim—and as as recent convert to the bus, I think a lot of NYCers are missing out. BUT the numbers on citibike use look great, particularly in the reduced fair / NYCHA category:

So maybe that accounts for some lost bus riders?
@aspiringpeasant Mostly though we don't really have to talk about, because we did a lot a while ago (when the kids hit and we found out how hard this actually is)
BUT it does come up at times of particularly constrained bandwidth or increased domestic workload eg. the holidays
@aspiringpeasant "Domestic labor equity" as a topic for discussion probably falls into the "goals" for us.
Particularly as parents to two girls w/r/t what we're modeling for them and what they should expect out of their relationships in a decade or so.
@aspiringpeasant Getting to something equitable in a marriage is almost all downside for men. They'll need to do a lot more and pay attention to a lot more. I think a lot of wives are going to need to play hard ball to get there.
At least for a generation or two.
@aspiringpeasant Similar to how my wife and I take this on, but a lot of men (maybe most (even otherwise progressive guys)) are going to have a hard time stepping up to something close to equality unless labor is very explicitly broken down for them.
As the space economy fully arrives it will need the kind of risk transfer tools long available in more mature sectors.
Derivatives customized to the unique risks of doing business on orbit are a part of that future.

We are a nation of drivers.
Most of us use a car every day and, for many, life would be difficult without their car.
But too often, drivers feel under attack.
That changes today with a long-term plan to improve drivers' experience on the road.
Here’s how 👇🧵
In some of New York City’s most flood-prone neighborhoods, increasing permeable infrastructure from the current level of 2% of land to just 5% of land could prevent flooding.
We can make our neighborhoods more resilient by replacing car space with green space.
Alright, I’ve avoided it for too long, but with it back in my feed, I feel compelled to talk about it: the 15-minute city. There is no debate; it is decidedly NOT authoritarian, and should be a core proposal from any self-professed localist. 1/
