Have I got this right?
The health secretary has Covid.
The prime minister & chancellor are in isolation.
Yesterday we had over 700 new hospital admissions for Covid.
And over 50,000 new cases.
We’re *already* having to cancel cancer ops.
And.. tomorrow is “Freedom Day”?? 😳
Really important issue highlighted here! Reminded me of a conversation I had with a friend a few months ago about recognising cyanosis on different skin tones, why are we not taught this?????!!!

LONG THREAD on B.1.617.2 & latest PHE data covering:
1) latest tech report on B.1.617.2 (aka "India" variant)
2) vaccine efficacy against B.1.617.2
3) consequences for roadmap
4) avoidability... or not.
Had a good final day with a patient telling me they were going to speak to the boss & make me stay on their ward😂
Really strange to think it's been my last EVER week of placement, the next I time I see a patient I'll be a qualified physio!!!!!

First trip out of the unit for one of our long-standing patients to see her family, and most importantly, her dog! And it was her birthday! One of the things we do to try and brighten someone’s day! #rehablegend#respisbest@whhrespphysios@WHHCriticalCare @LauraWalton80
Yesterday had a patient who was barely conscious and looking like they would be moved to palliative care. This afternoon they were demanding cups of tea and a waving from their bed🥰
They have a long road ahead but this is why I'm working in healthcare! #NHS
@bailey_jodie @CSPsouthwest @thecspstudents@clinicalphysio @generationAHP Talked about something similar with friends a while ago. Educators giving positive feedback was one of the biggest things and trusting you to be independent with a patient.
Allowing you to practice practical techniques/Ax on them also. Helpful to learning and confidence.
For a student or new grad w a disability or health condition, it can be hard to have to "introduce" this into the mix with each new placement/rotation, & can add to existing nerves. What are some top tips for how to approach this? @thecspstudents@disableddoctors
@abbiethephysio From my limited exp spec tests are important in anything w/ traumatic onset. Sub Ax are great when pts are clear but that's not always the case. Differentiating between sprain/partial rupture/full rupture weeks down th line(becoming more common due to covid) is difficult W/O them
Finished my paediatric placement today.😢 Sad to leave a brilliant team of professionals and my patients behind, but glad I got to work in such a friendly challenging environment. Can definitely see myself in paeds in the future 🤞
#paediatrics#physiostudent#oneplacementtogo
-Knowing songs is very useful when encouraging good posture & standing/sitting still
-Good development is crucial
-Home exercise plans should be fun but more importantly flexible
-Paediatrics is very rewarding ❤️
Over half way through my paediatric placement.
Things I've learnt so far (a thread):
-Parent's compliance & attitudes make a huge difference
-Dont label children unless it opens doors for them
-Pain is difficult for children to describe so be mindful when assessing
-There are a lot of syndromes & they will impact multiple systems
-Treat what you see, try not to over complicate it
-Children understand more than you realise, dont be afraid to explain things to them
@LUKEDYSON_ysj@thecspstudents @YSJPhysio There's some good anatomy apps you can get for free. Anatomy colouring books are really helpful initially as well, they make it easier to visualise. I think eBay has some reasonable ones.
