@ukhomeoffice Do you really think Ukrainian refugees have time and nerves to fill out the countless pages of bureacracy when Russian tanks are rolling through their streets? Do you really think they can get hold of all their passports, birth certificates when their houses are on fire?!!!
@MoiraWetherell @Harryslaststand The methods might differ but the consequences also differ. Neither Scotland, Ireland, Wales nor Cornwall are under English bombardment. Sure, many die from austerity and negligence but intently slaughtering civilians with military equipment takes things to a new level.
@spacermase No you are absolutely within your right to be freaked out. I am honestly shocked that there are some people nominally on the left that think Ukraine can be abandoned or that Putin can be negociated with. The only language he understands is force.
Putin's regime arresting Yelena Osipova, survivor of the Siege of Leningrad during the Second World War, for protesting against Putin's war in St Petersburg.
What sort of government is scared of a little old lady holding placards?
@Tubby2909@Harryslaststand Furthermore, as much as I dislike the UK establishment, comparing it to Putin doesn't do Ukraine much justice. I fear it just dilutes international condemnation of the Kremlin. I kid you not; Putin is by far the greater evil. Differences need to be put aside to stop him.
Incredibly proud of my fellow colleagues at the European planetary science society for not being afraid to take a stand and offering support to Ukrainian astronomers! ๐
If you're a Ukrainian astronomer and need any kind of help, contact the Europlanet or me!

@fedupofwm @Harryslaststand Cornwall too: Iโm Cornish. They practically eradicated our culture. We are doing our best to revive it but thereโs still a long way ahead. My point is that as shit as the government is, none of us are in immediate danger.
