Yesterday was officially my first day as postdoc at @mpi_astro (while still being abroad for another week). 🤩
Looking forward to 4 exciting years in Heidelberg with Eva Schinnerer, Nadine Neumayer and the @PHANGSteam
We are live!
✨ exquisite @PHANGSteam JWST infrared imaging of 19 nearby galaxies
✨ ~100,000 @PHANGSteam star clusters and associations across 38 nearby galaxies
data release 👉 https://t.co/YQQWfqCmUy
The PHANGS collaboration, led by MPIA astronomer Eva Schinnerer, released stunning infrared images of 19 nearby galaxies taken with the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) today
https://t.co/37K8dIi3Gn
@PHANGSteam presents (https://t.co/8H9zEuaiX2) gorgeous ultraviolet images of 31 nearby star-forming galaxies observed using @isro#AstroSat UVIT 🛰️ and offering new insights into galaxy evolution and star formation!
looking for a postdoc? come work with us to study star formation using exquisite @PHANGSteam data of nearby galaxies from @NASAHubble & @NASAWebb
✨deadline Jan 31✨https://t.co/xQs0LNF7wk
Our group is recruiting! 🤩 We have open postdoctoral and PhD positions at the ICC @DarkerMatters. Come join us in pretty Durham and/or help spread the word

Bars in disc galaxies are abundant in the local Universe but decrease with redshift. For the first time, we observed the fraction of bars in disc galaxies beyond redshift 2 using JWST and found the fraction to be 3 times greater than the HST bar fraction. https://t.co/MxkZ9dTJOX
A different paper for me: we investigate sonic representations to rapidly inspect spectra and datacubes! Listen to the shift and broadening of a spectral line across a galaxy in MUSE data: this tells us about gas rotation and black hole outflows. 🌌🔭🎧

Beautiful figure in incredibly cool @PHANGSteam paper about CO morphologies in #bars and spiral arms led by Sophia Stuber was voted the Astro Plot of the Week 🥳 (https://t.co/63zl9W1djh)
Published in #MNRAS: "Fuelling the nuclear ring of NGC 1097", Sormani et al. This is Fig. 1: for the caption & to read the paper visit https://t.co/UVqf3rDTfn
I just wanted to share this exciting news that the proposal led by Adam Leory and @PHANGSteam for JWST cycle 2 has been accepted to observe 55 galaxies with a allocation time of 150 hours!
Meanwhile, under the cycle 1 proposal by @janiceleeastro, @NASAWebb observed NGC 2835:
Our merger paper was just accepted by MNRAS! Here's the quick summary, credit goes out to @ClaireLamman for the awesome overlay idea, I think this is a great way to communicate paper results :)
