A different paper for me: we investigate sonic representations to rapidly inspect spectra and datacubes! Listen to the shift and broadening of a spectral line across a galaxy in MUSE data: this tells us about gas rotation and black hole outflows. 🌌🔭🎧

These were all made using STRAUSS - our free and open-source python library for sonifying data and exploring data with sound. You can find out more about STRAUSS at https://t.co/88YtPYD0tH !
...and now more complex - top 5 parties, also with volume ➡️ total share.
Sonification allows new perspectives on data, and accessible channels to data for people with visual impairments or non-visual learning styles.
Can you hear the peaks and relative changes? (2/3)...
Audio Universe are pleased to win @UniofNewcastle's Open Research Awards. We aim to make data as accessible as possible to researchers, the public, and those who might have difficulty accessing data through traditional methods. Read the case studies here: https://t.co/WD1V8JaVVn
Had a great time at #CAP2024 in Toulouse! Amazing people and projects, and a chance to demo our sonification on the big IMAX set up. Flight was cancelled and stuck in Toulouse over the weekend, not so bad... @CAPconference
Loving the ingenuity of this early explorer maxing out the audio of R Aquarii (symbiotic star) at @soundscenefest Light curve data has been sonified with field recordings, sustained notes + chords using STRAUSS software (@trayfud) to generate a dynamic star-listening experience.
Audio Universe has a new look! This reflects our interest in sound representation of data from any domain; for data exploration, immersive communication & inclusive education: https://t.co/qxh0Hkm4gJ.
Check out our new showreel for the STRAUSS code! A glimpse into some of the things that we can do to explore data with sound. We're looking to explore data outside astronomy too. Try out the code (https://t.co/88YtPYDyjf), or get in touch if interested! https://t.co/Q2ei8fYDAr
Had a lot of fun talking sonification, accessibility and how sound might give us all new perspectives on the Universe. See our chat at the UN for #ZeroCon24 last week! https://t.co/0yETKL5udP
The brilliant @pekingspring has built an experiment trying to see if you can hear planets. Have a go here: https://t.co/fdA17D8fBK cc @stevepretty@miltonline
Check out @trayfud's STRAUSS code, to turn all your datasets into sound! An introduction to how the code works, and some possible applications, is now on arXiv. You can find some example notebooks on the github and on our website: https://t.co/JmqKTm8Bcf

🚨Today marks 1 Year of #JWST Images!🚨
Celebrate by looking back on the best ones right here, before we get a brand new image in a couple of hours! 🔭🌌🚀

Press release about our recent paper out today! Slipped this into the talk I just gave at #ICAD2023, talking to sound experts. Thanks for having me, @ICAD_official ! https://t.co/6hfFpVHTYA
