How the NIH cuts would decimate pediatrics research at UNC and likely undermine the hospital system:
1/2

[Acyn @Acyn]

Beshear: If they eliminated the Department of Education and its funding, that’s a half billion dollars in meals for our kids that otherwise might go hungry. So, if Elon Musk and Donald Trump do what they say they’re doing, the result are hungry children

[Andrew Myers @AndrewCMyers]

Deep cuts to the National Science Foundation only make sense if you are an enemy of science or of the US. Most basic research in the US is funded by the NSF. The whole NSF budget is less than 0.2% of the federal budget, and most of it goes directly to scientists.

Donald Trump needs to IMMEDIATELY lift the hiring freeze on air traffic controllers and re-hire the FAA Administrator.

If the tragic American Airlines Blackhawk plain crash in DC has taught us anything, it’s that we need to be investing more in public safety - not less.

Senate Dems react to White House federal aid freeze: "This is project 2025"

Amid chaos after federal grants were frozen, know that my research colleagues:

- Develop new cancer treatments for kids
- Are curing sickle cell disease
- Build new tech to help premature babies survive
- Prevent teens from dying of drug overdose

Are we really halting this?

[Geoffrey Skelley @geoffreyvs]

Trump is getting *a lot* more time to talk in this debate

A very useful thread when anyone tries to tell you that people being trans is a new phenomenon.

[Laura Bassett @LEBassett]

For context, her fetus was diagnosed with a fatal condition, she could lose her uterus if she doesn’t have this abortion, she had to petition a judge to override the Texas abortion ban, the judge tearfully granted her an exception, and Texas’ AG is now threatening her doctor.

[Ben Crump @AttorneyCrump]

This is heartbreaking. A woman in Warren, Ohio, has been charged with abuse of a corpse for trying to plunge a toilet after having a miscarriage at 22 weeks while using the restroom.

[Pierce County, Wash. @PierceCo]

After the whipped cream goes on the pie, where does the empty container go?
Paper carton = Garbage 🗑️
Plastic tub = Rinse and recycle (lid goes in garbage) ♻️
Metal aerosol can = Garbage or take to a metal recycler

[Husam Zomlot @hzomlot]

After invading and ransacking Shifa Hospital, the Israeli military has come up with nothing but its usual media manipulation. Time to stop these war crimes. Time to stop this assault on the Palestinian people, on Palestinian children, doctors and nurses. Time for a #CeasfireNOW and time to #EndIsraeliOccupation.

[Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières @MSF_canada]

Two Doctors Without Borders cars were deliberately hit, killing one MSF staff’s family member and injuring another.

We are calling for an immediate ceasefire, which is the only way for corridors to be implemented in order to safely evacuate trapped civilians. #Gaza

[Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières @MSF_canada]

On 18 November 2023, an MSF staff’s relative died and another one was injured in an attack on an MSF convoy trying to evacuate 137 people - MSF Palestinian staff members and their families. MSF condemns in the strongest terms this deliberate attack. #Gaza

[Sebastien Vidal @SebVidalChem]

Safety first !!!
So here is a simple question tweeps.
Which solvent could have caused such injury after poking one's finger with a syringe and injecting 1-2 drops of solvent. 15 minutes and 2 hrs pictures

[Dr. Debbie Gale Mitchell @heydebigale]

About 40% done with Dr Katalin Kariko’s memoir and wanted to share this excerpt on what she believes we need for more women to be successful scientists

(It’s not surprise: affordable childcare and also men working as caregivers!)
