@toy59496 Don't want to go back to 1930s....gold standard.
Fiat has worked well.
Allows the government to inflate its way out of recessions and depressions....
This morning, I visited the site of the Bondi Beach terrorist attack where 15 people were murdered by two evil Islamic extremists. I was taken around by Yanky Super, who survived the attack on that fateful day but was severely injured. Yanky stoically recounted the horror of what occurred on 14 December.
Thanks to a former AFP whistleblower, we now know that there was extreme pressure on counter-terrorism resources at the time.
If that’s not reason enough for the Royal Commission into antisemitism to be extended, another is that key witnesses were not called to give evidence. We need to hear from the Prime Minister, from the ministers responsible for the Home Affairs, Education, Foreign Affairs, and Attorney-General’s portfolios, from the AFP Commissioner, from the Vice Chancellors at universities that were a breeding ground for antisemitism, from the hate preachers and activists who have spread misery on our streets with their regular protest marches, and from other leaders in law enforcement and counter-terrorism specialists.
The Albanese government should extend the antisemitism Royal Commission and it has the power to do so.
But Labor and this Prime Minister don’t want answers. Ever since the abhorrent and vile scenes at the Sydney Opera House in October 2023, the Albanese government has ignored the crisis of antisemitism afflicting Australia and won’t condemn antisemitism without condemning other forms of racism in the same breath.
Unless the government confronts, let alone acknowledges, the problem of Islamic extremism in Australia, there will be more attacks.
It's clear Iran's economy is in an unprecedented meltdown. You just have to look at inflation to see that and this is official data, which likely understate the scale of the implosion by a substantial margin. The US has time on its side. Iran doesn't...

Sydney’s Lakemba Mosque is trying to gain council approval to play the Islamic call to prayer from loudspeakers.
Lebanese Muslim Association spokesman Gamel Kheir says the practice is inclusive, because Islamic authorities always historically gave non-Muslims the choice to pay a special tax for protection.
“If you return the call to prayer back to us, we leave you alone. If you don’t return the call to prayer, you have two choices: you either fight, or pay a tax for protection.”
I reckon it’s really nice to be offered protection. Thank you Gamel.
Does anyone remember this amazing story? On July 2, 1982, a truck driver from California flew 16,000 feet into the sky in a lawn chair. Larry Walters, 33, from San Pedro, had dreamed of flying his whole life. He bought 42 eight-foot helium weather balloons, tied them to a regular Sears lawn chair, strapped on a parachute, packed a BB gun to pop balloons to descend, a CB radio, sandwiches, and a six-pack of beer.
He expected to float a few hundred feet above his backyard. He cut the rope and shot up like a rocket — to 16,000 feet. He drifted directly into the main approach path for LAX. Two airline pilots radioed the tower: they had just passed a man in a lawn chair holding a gun at 16,000 feet. For 45 minutes, he floated over Los Angeles, freezing cold, too scared to shoot balloons because he might fall. Finally, he started popping balloons one by one and slowly descended.
He landed tangled in power lines in Long Beach, California, causing a blackout. When police arrested him, they asked why he did it. He said, "A man can't just sit around." The FAA fined him $4,000. He became a national folk hero — Lawnchair Larry — and inspired the movie Up.
I’m in love with this sentence:
“Every pattern in your life repeats until you learn the lesson. The moment you choose differently, the loop ends and growth begins.”

Take two quick inhales through your nose (one deep breath, followed by a sharp "top-off" inhale), then one long, slow exhale through your mouth. Doing this just three times instantly drops your heart rate.
