Happy to finally share our latest review on climate change impacts on coastal groundwater, published @NatRevEarthEnv with co-authors @coral_kay@Clara_RuizG@MuddyLobster@gw_paldor (and not-on-Twitter: Holly Michael, Nils Moosdorf, and Adina Paytan)! https://t.co/3B6qNltrgu
“With climate change, wildfires are becoming more common,” said UCSC researcher @at_a_confluence. “There’s just a paucity of pre-fire data that has impaired our understanding of how fires are actually impacting stream water composition.”
CZU fires have lasting impacts, even now!
🔥💦Excited to share our latest paper on wildfire impacts on stream C-Q dynamics here: https://t.co/obobRgPEbC! This research is close to my heart as it explores one small dimension of the aftermath of the 2020 CZU Lightning Complex fires in our coastal community.
This project was a HUGE field/lab effort on a small budget made possible thanks to many people (Maya Montalvo, Riley Barton, Michael Redmond, Sasha Wagner, @margaret_zimmer, and @PaytanLab), agencies (@CityofSantaCruz, @CAStateParksSC, @NOAA ) and last-minute funding (@NSF).
@WardHydro If you need HF measurements, we use the Pro-Oceanus Mini CO2 sensors w/usgs. They are about 9k each…have had them in peat drainage channels, tidal wetlands…maybe not always super robust but I think options are slim. I imagine they’d fare even better in a stream.
Our community science project in Ethiopia is seeking a hydrologist who can help the community assess and distribute water post-conflict. Check out the project and learn more about the volunteer needed: https://t.co/D3Hm7aXCHQ

💦 New research in @NatRevEarthEnv warns about the effects of climate change on coastal groundwater ecosystems. The work, in which @Clara_RuizG participated, compiles the knowledge of the impact of #CC on these critical water resource.
