I feel like Web3 unleashed a global legion of dormant smart people who were underutilized and bored at their day jobs, who suddenly woke up to work on important problems by giving them memes and something to care about/fight for.

Does the calculus change when the recovery is extremely beneficial to one party, and the "cost" for the community is de minimis? Should we celebrate losing funds?
