1/ Ethereum hackathons are massively broken.
It is hot mess at this point! and is getting worse with each new large scale hackathon happening around the world. Take this as a rant but I am working towards a proper long term solution which might just fix things.
There's a massive incentive misalignment that's ruining what hackathons are supposed to be.
I'm not just talking out of my ass here - I've literally been everywhere:
- Been a serial hacker, turned one hackathon project into a startup
- Been a judge and reviewed 500+ projects for ETHGlobal and Devfolio in last few years
- Been a hackathon sponsor, put up multiple bounties for my project
- Been a hackathon organizer, conducted a hackerhouse for alpha launch of my project.
So, hear me out...
So many L2s dropped this quarter, I found no one providing actual utility. Some just want to raise millions in funding, some are striving on airdrops, and some just build "fake" community by providing merch.
Drop some new L1/L2s that you found interesting
@0xayushya@ovia_seshadri@MoveClub_ind@aptos_ind Same scene at every web3 event. Throwing merch != building community. No one's wearing that outside web3 events. Instead, giving merch as a reward for completing challenges or contributing feels more special, and people value it more.
I'm honored to be nominated for the @ForttunaAwards India Edition, Business Leaders Award!
Grateful for this incredible opportunity and excited for what’s next.
@gerassyk@shikkhar_ We have already built the core protocols, just tweaking it a bit and developing things around it. Stay tuned, we are going to launch a public devnet soon 😉
