Accumulating evidence indicates mosaic #chromosomal#alterations could be associated with disease and mortality, but careful interpretation is warranted as potential biases can produce spurious associations.

Thrilled the GWAS Explorer is online in @ScientificData! Access cancer-related association summary statistics for 110,562 #PLCO participants of multiple ancestries through the website and API. Kudos to the many contributors! @NCIEpiTraining

@KevinWessman Yep, it is easier for me without a yard too because I have to walk them (not just open a door), but they are a lot of work. Gypsy not so much anymore, but I got Evie as soon as gypsy became easy.
@AccidentalGenet@AACR @kbrowngenetics This really was an effective activity. Thank you both again for the creativity to come up with this way of teaching it!
Being held up isolating in Boston has me missing these two. This will be the longest I have been without a dog in over a decade. Really has me realizing how much joy they bring to the mundane.
Sad to have been on zoom the last two days, but hope to continue the conversations we started long into the future. Thank you to the faculty and speakers I did not find a twitter handle to as well!
@KWhiteheadLab I don’t think it’s a scam, but it was challenging in my 30s to be working so hard and often doing things mentors couldn’t do while having an infrastructure that treats you like a student/intern with low pay, crap benefits and frequent payment mistakes.
@SciNerdRobb That’s frustrating. A lot of it is definitely luck and timing. Also be sure not to undersell yourself. I recognized after I interviewed at the first few places that my bioinformatics/omics analysis skills were further than I thought- I can figure a lot out with time and help
@SciNerdRobb @KYT_ThatsME Have you looked at NIH postdocs? Many postdocs are content area specific, but you have access to a vast training library on NGS, python, r, etc. I also interviewed with a lot of PIs with overlapping interests (At NCI) and specifically asked about the training to improve this.
Dissertation done! While I breath a sigh of relief, I also feel tremendously grateful for the scientists on my committee and my mentors. The PhD was a struggle, but discussing my projects for 2 hours with my committee was such a rewarding experience!
I know I may be alone in this, but having an in depth conversation about my approaches and future directions with scientists that have relevant expertise was almost fun. (I only insert almost because it was technically an exam, applying a bit of pressure to it).
