@unusual_whales No doubt it has its problems, but fractional reserve currency has literally enabled the modern age to be possible. People that want to return to a gold standard are well intentioned, but don’t understand the ramifications.
@DavidDeutschOxf Provide an example where a sitting president did not attempt to control the truth of a matter and instead deferred to the public. I’ll wait
@DavidDeutschOxf@Atom2384 You had an opportunity to provide a concrete example of government contradicting falsehoods. And instead you chose an example about religion that is impossible to prove.
@elonmusk Please understand, immigration is one of the key reasons America is not in serious demographic decline. You have said yourself that there will not be enough workers in the future to build the future you envision. Immigrants are essential to keep our population growth on track.
@elonmusk Yes, America is changing. You could also say it is evolving in order to survive. But when the human body rejects change and bolsters an immune response against its own cells, we call that cancer.
@elonmusk So pick one:
Either be content with our current political balance and accept that eventual population decline will put an end to your ambitions of interstellar human exploration.
Or accept all the immigrants we can along with whatever political ideologies they arrive with.
@elonmusk Once immigrants arrive to help build this future of yours, don’t they deserve to have a voice in politics? The fact that immigration will change the political landscape is true and unavoidable. You cannot have both unchanged demographics and sustained population growth.
@SaltyGoat17@mcuban Maybe you should do the research also. The break even price for shale is $30-50/barrel, which is similar to offshore prices. The break even for Middle East oil is below $10/barrel. So Marks point stands. We can only lower prices so far, and Mideast oil will always out price us.
@mcuban There’s really nothing either of them can do to lower the price of anything. Current inflation is a result of deglobalization, rising commodity prices worldwide, rising shipping and insurance costs, rising costs of agricultural inputs, as our free trade policies come to an end
@Campbell2976@BGatesIsaPyscho 2/2 Those countries that are unable to sustain their own economy or political unity without the trade relations they’ve enjoyed the past 8 decades will generate millions of new immigrants and refugees that seek a better life elsewhere. Get used to it. It’s not ending soon.
@Campbell2976@BGatesIsaPyscho 1/2 Nothing inherently evil about immigrants or refugees. The reason this trend is accelerating is because the global trade system that has been in place for the past 80 years is coming to an end, with countries like UK being the first to leave.
