@peterrhague@interplanetary It’s pointed because Chinese rocket stages are haphazardly put into random orbits by a rogue space actor who cares little about the safety of their own citizens during launch - or the global order in space.
@astrorahul_@SciGuySpace@Proteus_Space Agreed. If your pitch is 100k spacecraft - launch is just another vertical integration. Good luck, you know better than anyone launch is one of the hardest and most capital intensive activities in the space sector.
@astrorahul_@SciGuySpace@Proteus_Space All the rest I 100% agree with (fomo etc) - how someone starting ANOTHER standard bus company can raise almost a billion is crazy….a shows the VCs have no clothes when it comes to being lied to and acting on fomo…
Satellite startup founder here. @Proteus_Space we rapidly design-build-launch-operate fully custom high performance spacecraft. Our customers come to us for holistic performance to mission objectives, and being able to choose among all available Launch Vehicles is of material benefit to our customers. “Owning launch” is definitely not the “only way” here - it’s just another sales pitch.
I'm so excited that our @theworldlabs team has achieved a major milestone today! Introducing Atlas - a first of its kind multimodal world model trained from scratch! 🚀
Atlas is capable of generating frames with pixel-perfect camera control, reconstructing large scenes from as few as one single input image, simulating space-time by reframing videos, natively outputting 3D spaces from one or more input images, composing multiple posed images into a consistent 3d world, and more! This is the best camera conditioned world model ever, opening doors to many possible use cases from VFX to robotics. I'm so so so proud of our team!♥️
This is one of the reasons we built Proteus - a machine for autonomous spacecraft design and production. It 10x's every engineer that touches it. When you don't have the talent - you need the technology.

If you survive long enough, you'll live to hire the talent that made the rounds through the unicorns and left, either via the boom-bust / hire-layoff cycle or after the senior talent sees the emperor has no clothes. Economics only play when competitive product is being sold in volume - which it isn't by many unicorns.
Interesting - this ties generative model performance with some outer space orbital mechanics. When I was at Stanford Research Institute @SRI_Intl, we noticed the inherent natural qualities of quantum machines delivered much better outcomes with CV algos.
Mother nature is trying to tell us something.
Imagine a world where every spacecraft is fully blank sheet customized for the payload and mission. Where you don’t have to choose compromised standardization at the start. That’s what we’re building @Proteus_Space. We’re building the machine that builds the machines.
