Patrik Laine was once one of the most feared young scorers in hockey.

Now, in early August, he still does not have an NHL contract.

The 28-year-old just reached the end of a four-year, $34.8-million deal, but his free-agent market has reportedly been extremely quiet. Some interested teams appear unwilling to guarantee him a major role or a long-term commitment, with even a professional tryout reportedly discussed as a possibility.

That is a stunning fall for a player who scored 44 goals at age 19 and appeared destined to become one of the NHL’s elite snipers.

The issue is not whether Laine can still shoot the puck.

It is whether a team can trust his health, consistency and ability to stay in the lineup long enough to build around that talent.

Edmonton has recently surfaced as a possible landing spot, and the fit is obvious: Laine would receive opportunities beside elite playmakers and could rebuild his value on a contender.

But the longer he remains unsigned, the less leverage he has, and the more likely he may need to accept a prove-it contract.

A former second-overall pick and 44-goal scorer is now fighting simply to secure his next NHL opportunity.

Her counter offer is simple and public:

1⃣$500,000

2⃣He travels to her (she is seven months pregnant)

3⃣No chain smoking in the room

4⃣Most importantly, Blake Neff, Andrew Colvet, or Erika Kirk must publicly state that Wilson is representing them in this debate. No walking it back afterward.

Candace also played clips of Wilson’s previous debate style, which relies heavily on personal insults and vulgar attacks — a far cry from the clean, high-standard approach Charlie Kirk was known for. She noted that Wilson misrepresented her positions and lied about other groups while sitting with Rogan.

If Turning Point USA wants to send someone to debate the case, they can own it openly and meet the terms. Otherwise it remains exactly what it looks like: an attempt to launder a low-tier debater into relevance off Charlie’s death.

In November, before Trump took office, Minnesota was already projected to face a $5.1 billion deficit in 2028-29. That has now increased to $5.9 billion.

In 2023, Democrats in control of the state government spent through a $17.5 billion surplus.
