In just months in 1962, one of the world’s oldest Jewish communities — nearly 130,000 strong, with roots 2,700 years deep — vanished from Algeria.
Ancient traders arrived with the Phoenicians long before Islam. Jewish life thrived for centuries, despite dhimmi status, humiliation, and periodic massacres under Muslim rule.
When France arrived in 1830, Jews welcomed them as liberators. The 1870 Crémieux Decree gave them full citizenship — a status most Muslims chose to reject.
Trapped between resentment and European antisemitism, violence surged: the 1934 Constantine pogrom (25 Jews killed); the 1960 burning of the Great Synagogue of Algiers with Torah scrolls torched; and the 1961 assassination of beloved Jewish musician Sheikh Raymond Leyris.
After independence in July 1962, the new slogan was “Muslim Algeria.” Jews had no place. Nearly the entire community fled in panic — “the suitcase or the coffin.”
Synagogues became mosques or parking lots. Cemeteries desecrated. Algeria erased every trace of its Jewish past.
Across Islamic-dominated lands from Algeria to Iraq to Libya to Yemen, ancient Jewish communities were driven out through violence, discrimination, and expulsion.
Algeria’s Jews didn’t simply “leave.” Their 2,700-year presence was deliberately erased in the name of ethnic and religious purity. A permanent warning about what happens when a nation chooses ideology over its own history.
L: Reem Alsalem justifies her refusal to report on Ilana Gritzewsky and other Israeli women assaulted by Hamas, saying, “We cannot rely on media statements only.”
R: Reem Alsalem condemns Israel relying on the Hamas flotilla's media statement only. “As per their press release.”
🚨Major admission by @pressfreedom. CPJ is finally conducting a full review of its Gaza “journalist” fatality database after Hamas & PIJ themselves exposed many listed “journalists” as their own fighters. Israel said this all along and Hamas/PIJ's own martyr notices proved it.
Right or wrong are not decided by the number of who believes what.
Witch-hunt is a known phenomenon in human history in which the mob, with incorrect beliefs, goes after those who are not guilty.
I understand that the game Palestinians prefer to play is numbers: 2 billion Muslims vs 18 million Jews. But the majority is not always right, and the concept “the tyranny of the majority,” is an established one. The majority in many societies, across history, got it wrong, from accepting slavery to endorsing Nazi and Fascist ideologies.
So the short answer to this question is yes: It is possible that the minority is right and the majority is wrong.
If this Palestinian child had recorded a video about Israel in Gaza, it would be retweeted thousands of times. @UNSRVAW would share. @amnesty would share. @UNICEF would share. Every “pro-Palestine” account would share.
But this video is anti-Hamas.
So none of them will share.
@ktbcleve@DavidSamuelMay The world does not hate Israel. The Muslim/ant western driven algorithms and bots make you think it is. You’re just to weak to handle
@LunaLion098@ErinCampbell_99@buckleycarlson@davidmay Very basic fact coverage about the conflict. You guys totally drop the fire starting role of Hizbollah. They send drones to hunt Israeli civilians inside Israeli towns. The fact that Lebanese Shia villages in south Lebanon filled with arms and rocket launchers. But Israel is evil
@RepBowman@kthalps Epstein class? Hegemony? Patriarchy? The same low level buzz words of the populist that can only address 20 years old naive students.
Opportunity for all? Yes! But offer positive options don’t just lash out against imaginary enemies
To all Western media, including pro-Palestine outlets: right now, thousands of Palestinian civilians are taking part in massive anti-Hamas protests across the Gaza Strip.
Stand with them. Carry their voices. Don't abandon them.
Ron Atkinson called a footballer a “lazy thick n****r” on a hot mic and never worked again.
Gary Lineker shared an instagram video referring to Jews as rats, and here we are: warmly welcomed back to our screens with jokes.
Double standards in plain sight
⚠️EXPOSED!! An underground Hezbollah terror tunnel 200 meters long and 25 meters deep, with 4 launch shafts and massive number of weapons.
Share this. The mainstream media won’t.
I'm pleased to share an essay I wrote for @TheAtlantic.
As a left-wing Jew who supports universal human rights, I argue that opposition to antizionism flows from those values. For more than a century, antizionism has justified the erasure of Jewish life, the expulsion of Jews, and violence and discrimination against those marked as "Zionists."
The Democratic Party—and all people of conscience—should condemn it.

Breaking: @AlexCrawfordSky from @skynews and @hugobachega from @bbcnews in huge exclusive about a huge underground Hezbollah tunnel full of rocket launch pads and weapons
Only joking. The Israeli army found it of course. And they killed twenty Hezbollah terrorists while capturing it.
The sad thing is our media is so bad we can actually joke about it. Western journalists see no Hezbollah - hear no Hezbollah - and find no Hezbollah activity even when they are reporting from a funeral surrounded by Hezbollah flags.
In fact tomorrow, both BBC News and Sky News will probably pretend that the twenty Hezbollah terrorists killed by Israel were actually doctors, journalists, pregnant women or 18 month old babies.
Hezbollah are embedded throughout Southern Lebanon - they have turned key sites inside almost every village into a military target and the top journalists from our biggest media platforms have never exposed ONE SINGLE story about any of it.
They have been there years. And they never saw any of it. They should never be forgiven.
Terrorist mouthpieces. That is all they are. Look at the video - see what is right under their noses:
