Once, I told a librarian that she'd be out of a job because all books would soon be on the internet. I was 8. San Francisco via Chicago via Costa Rica.
Just posted my annual reading recap.
Traveling from SF to Mexico City, Vienna, Budapest, and South Africa, I circled one theme: ideas rewrite the world.
Standouts: Zweig on collapse, MacKenzie on financial models that shape markets.

@rezendi What a great visual.
Quite aligned with my hypothesis around AI in personal finance: bots will help people clarify what they want to do with their lives, and change how they spend/save/invest based on what AI tells them.
An interesting side effect of working with AI agents for personal projects is they force you into professional workflows, even for solo and throwaway projects.

@MattBruenig I’m really looking forward to trying to reproduce this one from @ernietedeschi when the new microdata dump comes out https://t.co/UhIwo9t5zA
Gen Z is still young, but they typically have higher inflation-adjusted net wealth (assets minus debt, including student debt) than prior generations did at their age.

@Asterion9 Lulu tiene buena pinta! Solenoide creo que está demasiado grande para empezar por ahí…. Voy a buscarlo acá. Lo leería en español, más que todo por ser un poco más cercano al Rumano, me imagino que una mejor traducción.
Gracias por la recomendación!
@kevinsimler I like that frame. This was my response, not just to the thread but more a commentary of the general vibe in SF right now https://t.co/qiS3gAZ0cT
The fine folks at @BloombergBeta hosted @tab_delete and @add_hawk back-to-back last week, which felt like a maliciously targeted diagnosis of San Francisco's new ambition-induced AI psychosis.

@StephenPiment Means a lot coming from you!
As I was writing this, I thought back to a very good conversation we had at the Matilda 3 Caffe Macs about Coase and organizational structure. Probably a decade ago. We're due for a catch-up!
@dskott Time flies! You put your email in there a few years back, and, well... here we are!
Safari shooting is a different beast. I'm always gonna be partial to architecture/street shots. Your photos are as awesome as they always were 🙂
