@jsummerly@andrewCDmcg Lovely to hear I’m not alone in thinking it’s even better than Creation! Jacobs’ recording for me - his hunting/wine harvest sequence in particular is a joy.
@andrewCDmcg@BBCRadio3 The second subject of the first movement always reminds me of ‘Mes mains ont la parole’, a 1980s French variation on Jackanory (with the stories told in sign language), for which this was the theme tune.
I have started a rewatch of the Jeremy Brett ‘Sherlock Holmes’ series. Towards the end of ‘A scandal in Bohemia’, Irene Adler confesses to having been trained as an actress. Fellow @allaboutthedame listeners will understand why an alarm immediately sounded in my head …
@HistoryHit @MaddyPelling I was a guest at a party on the south side of Edinburgh a few years, in a Georgian house where the windows at the back where still of the period, but not those at the front. The owners believe they had been smashed by protesters as the house had belonged to Dr Knox.
An idea for @sixteenthCgirl’s excellent @NotJustTudors podcast: at what point did all the expressions we know from Shakespeare become common parlance? I’m assuming post-First Folio, but wonder if some from the more popular plays might have been picked up sooner.
I’m partway through a rewatch of @agathachristie’s #Poirot (with the always excellent @allaboutthedame as a complementary podcast) and have noticed that the murder method for the first two episodes of series 3 is identical. Strange programming quirk?
@NotJustTudors@sixteenthCgirl@sallypointer Absolutely fascinating as usual, though I’m not sure how I managed to stomach my breakfast through one utterly horrifying revelation …

My only criticism of tonight’s outstanding @SCOmusic concert with #PekkaKuusisto and #AleCarr is that it’s spoilt me for future performances of the Four Seasons. I may even avoid seeing for a while …
@greg_jenner @annieexcuse I’ve come to appreciate Tintin much more as an adult - Asterix was always a lot more fun - but can definitely recommend it. If you ever do a Cold War episode of #YoureDeadToMe, ‘The Calculus Affair’ is a must-read.
