Stations are NOT closing. Edm/Cgy news control rooms will now be operated remotely from Toronto to save costs. So a terrible loss of talented staff in Alberta - but not a shuttering of stations.
This guy built a website allowing users to define what they see as "Downtown" in their city. The map here shows New York City but there is more in the source: https://t.co/T3Kf9GMvVy
For Downtown Eastside community members, a safe and public toilet is hard to come by. 🚽
When our new building opens this month, community members will have access to clean washrooms. This is one of the ways we’re able to provide dignity in our new building.
Another space that provides dignity is our shower facility. We won’t be ready to run the shower program this month, but when we do, community members will have access to private shower stalls where they can wash. We’ll share more information later. 🚿
For now, you can visit the redevelopment page on our website: https://t.co/BARyl869Tc

Over a decade ago, the City of Vancouver leased 5 East 8th Avenue to Hootsuite for what some believed to be a sweetheart deal.
Hootsuite had an option to buy it, did so in 2015 for $9.3M, and recently sold it for $18 million. #vanRE

“The real problem with Kits Pool isn’t what Mayor Sim says it is”
All this political theatre distracts from the real elephant in the pool.

Congratulations to Lookout Housing and Health Society on the renewal of the permit for The Village in #DuncanBC.
The renewal is a reaffirmation to provide shelter and services for people experiencing homelessness.

“Cruel,” “shocking”, “ham-handed,” “draconian” and “authoritarian” were among the words that arose in recent interviews about the @CityofVancouver's so-called "Villages Plan."
Former @VancouverSun reporter Carol Volkart has an excellent article on 3 households learning that, under the Villages Plan, their properties will effectively be frozen.
Their properties will be restricted to four-to-six-storey apartments with ground-floor retail.
Until then, they won’t be able to expand or add to their homes, or build any other housing type.
