@Latterdaytruth D&C 135:4, quoting Joseph Smith on his way to Carthage Jail (June 24, 1844): "I am going like a lamb to the slaughter. . .
Joseph Smith Used a Gun at Carthage Jail and fired it. Some of the rounds misfired.
It seems like these two facts are contradictory in nature. Agree??
@Latterdaytruth Joseph Smith Used a Gun at Carthage Jail and fired it. Some of the rounds misfired. Are most LDS aware of this fact?? https://t.co/dejal94AnF
@Obijon__Kenobi@Latterdaytruth I think even you would be surprised how little LDS know this fact. Next Sunday after sacrament meeting ask a dozen or so members if they have ever heard this. I would be curious to see what numbers you come up with. Perhaps you are right but I would be surprised
@Obijon__Kenobi@Latterdaytruth I think you overestimate the number of LDS who know this fact. You can't portray Joseph as a Lamb lead to slaughter with a man who has been arrested, smuggles a gun into jail, and fires it several times. This doesn't mean he deserved what he go but he was certainly not a "Lamb"
@appraiserjacob@realDrTT Jacob I hear all the time from LDS that Christians are good people but they will never benefit from exaltation or even the Terrestrial kingdom unless they convert to Mormonism either now or in the spirit world. So how is this different?
LDS rests on the premise that the Bible has been completely corrupted thus a restoration of the truth was necessary. This restored it to the way it was during the time of Jesus. If this was the case then why the changes in Mormonism since that time?
Question: Is Jesus Christ the savior of other worlds?
". . .The generally accepted interpretation of this verse is that if Jesus is the creator of many worlds, and the inhabitants of these worlds are children of the Father (both by birth and by covenant). . ."FAIR cont.
cont. LDS members owe it to themselves to at least look at some issues witht the church because eternity is a long time. A good source and one that I think is fair is the CES Letter by Jeremy Runnells. https://t.co/VhlF1ellRN
LDS are nice, helpful, and try to follow good moral values. They are sincere when they say that they beleive they follow the true restored gospel. I think most would agree with this. So the real question is are they right? cont.
Just curious if this is common knowledge among LDS members. Back in 2014 when I visited the Whitmer Farm in New York and asked the missionary tour guide if she ever heard that she said never.
"People of my generation grew up thinking Joseph Smith looked through the Urim and Thummim, saw an English translation of the Nephite text, and dictated the words to a scribe who wrote them down. More recently historians, to the surprise and shock of many. . ." Richard Bushman
Richard Bushman cont". . . have drawn attention to historical sources that describe Joseph Smith looking through a seerstone that he put in a hat to keep out the light. He dictated the words which he saw in the stone while the records lay covered on the table."
@realDrTT Agree with you that LDS are sincere but not Christian. LDS are nice (mostly) and often willing to help others when asked. But in the end if they are indeed not Christian the so called "nice deeds" will still land them into Hell.
@ybobbjr Bobby thanks for the honesty. It is truly refreshing. I wish more LDS were more open and transparent about what you really believe. That would make dialog much easier.
@SoCalConserve1@OaksDallinH Here is some help determining whether or not this is true. Google daniel wallace textual criticism. This may open up your eyes
