same observation. i saw the post and my first thought was, if it was titled, let's say, "can i edit avengers infinity war on a 3 hour flight?"
it would've performed significantly better because the topic is something people already relate to and enjoy, and adding a challenge around it makes it even more appealing.
the video didn't perform because there wasn't enough context or intrigue.
head of clipper. you remember you started a challenge to make $10k with clipping in 30 days? and you joined andres contreras campaign for it, but then you stopped for some reason. i ended up making $10k from that campaign, and i grew 2 accounts for him to a combined 32k+ followers and 20 million+ views in 2 months.
this is terrible advice for most creators.
most people don't want to go mainstream or become the next hormozi.
create strategic content -> funnel viewers to your email list -> sell + set up an automation for every new follower -> run a dm funnel.
simple as that. you don't need to wait 3 years.
i'll take this as a sign to start posting content.
i've been in the personal branding and content marketing space for over 2 years now.
have inconsistently made around $40k, and now my goal is to get to $100k mrr.
my vehicle to reach that goal will be selling full stack content marketing services.
i've grown multiple instagram accounts, with my personal one at 116k followers.
i also recently worked as a clipper for andres contreras, where i grew 2 accounts to a combined 32k+ followers and 20 million+ views in 2 months. (if you're interested in having an in-house clipper, message me)
i remember seeing @maciekl_ say that you shouldn't go near posting content if you're below 10k-$30k a month, and i partially agree because i've firsthand observed how some people are simply unqualified to share their insights on the internet. but like with everything in life, there's nuance there too.
that being said, let's do this.
officially 3 years of running Baked Design
> $3.97M revenue ($5.57M CAD)
> ZERO cold emails or DMs
> first payment was $25
> first six months I made $5k
> ran $150/m retainers
> one person agency to 10 people
> over 150+ clients
what started as a 7 day experiment in 2023 with no vision or sense of direction has crossed 3 years.
started roasting or what i used to call “baking” designs for fun, never approached anyone to pay for my work. made many mistakes along the way and I still make mistakes to date, I’m not going to be perfect and thats okay.
our first client was a indie hacker who need some banner designs which i designed for free. it took time to build my presence, over 6 months of showing up every day and its not easy for an introvert who gets trigger headaches and can get emotional impacted for the smallest thing. it was challenging to be here, many people made it easier - i’m grateful to be part of the indie hacking community that helped in the initial days.
but all of this started in 2009 when i started designing logos for design contests, i spent 6 months and made $0 - but i had fun, I guess the process and my love for art made me for at ut. But that one win changed my life, that $250 i made designing a logo gave the 16-year-old me that I can dream bigger - though the people around me brushed it as a fluke.
I’m glad I believed in myself to pursue design and that one event brought here today - thanks to the friend who suggested I try designing logos and the person who believed a 16 year old could design a logo that he could use for his business.
