Amazon Image Optimization Done Right
On Amazon, every inch of image space matters. It’s the difference between a shopper scrolling past or stopping to click.
We recently reworked this product dimension image for a 115 ml plastic test tube, and the change speaks for itself.
Before:
The image showed the dimensions but lacked context. There was too much white space and no clear visual story.
After:
Every inch of space now works to communicate something useful.
The scale is clear with hands in frame, typography is clean and easy to read, and the layout instantly builds understanding.
It’s not just about making things look better. It’s about using design to make information easier, faster, and more natural for shoppers to process.
That’s what real creative optimization looks like.
How far AI image enhancement has come
This before and after was generated using ChatGPT’s image editing prompt.
I used a single line of instruction:
“Apply realistic studio lighting similar to a professional product photo. Use a clean white background with soft, bright lighting coming from the upper left side. Create smooth, diffused highlights on the glass surface and subtle reflections to emphasize transparency. Add a soft shadow cast toward the lower right corner. Ensure the overall look is crisp, minimalistic, and high contrast like a premium e-commerce product photo shot with a softbox in a controlled studio setup.”
The result looks like it came straight from a studio camera. Clean, bright, and product ready.
AI may not replace creativity, but it’s definitely changing how fast we can go from a raw shot to a retail ready image.
How we cracked the code of premium A+ content
Most brands think great visuals are enough, but what actually converts is the structure.
Here’s how we designed this Amazon listing for Blue Shoe Guys to both look and sell premium.
1️⃣ Primary Offer: Clear headline and promise right at first glance. Simple, direct, and instantly understandable.
2️⃣ Features with Benefits: Each feature is paired with what it means for the shopper. Stretchable (fits all sizes), breathable (no sweat), water resistant (keeps shoes dry).
3️⃣ Trust: Real customer reviews woven into the layout to create social proof and credibility.
4️⃣ Usage: Real-life scenarios showing how and where the product fits into daily life.
Every section is intentional.
It’s not just “nice design.”
It’s storytelling built to convert.
Leverage AI for visual storytelling
AI cannot replace good design sense, but it can make ideas move faster
We used Nano Banana to create this image of a screw shown on different surfaces, including wood, metal, and plastic
If we had to shoot or Photoshop it, it would take hours
AI made it possible in minutes
The goal was to show versatility in a clean, believable way that fits Amazon standards while using technology to make creativity simpler and stories clearer.
Strong Premium A+ can turn Amazon into your highest converting channel without increasing ad spend
For this one, we focused on calm design, natural tones, and a lifestyle aesthetic that feels real and trustworthy
Premium A+ is not a layout upgrade
It is how brands tell their story clearly and visually
Another reason I keep talking about A+ Premium Content
It’s the closest thing to turning your Amazon listing into a real website.
Standard A+ is great, but Premium takes it further, a bigger canvas, mobile and desktop layouts, hero video, and interactive modules that feel fluid instead of stacked.
It keeps shoppers focused, engaged, and exploring your brand longer.
Amazon notices that engagement.
Conversions follow.
When we design Premium A+, we don’t build extra banners.
We build experiences.
❌ Think your main image is “good enough”? Think again.
Your main image is your first conversion lever.
You’ve got 2–3 seconds to win the click.
This before/after shows what better creative can do:
✅ Highlighted value — “30 Servings” is bold and impossible to miss
✅ Added eye-candy — 🍓 strawberries + 🍋 lemons = instant flavor + appetite appeal
✅ Cleaner focus — Less clutter, more visual impact
Why it matters:
• Better clarity = higher CTR
• Stronger value builds trust
• Emotional visuals boost perceived quality
🧠 Pro tip:
Would you click this without reading a single word?
If not, it’s time for a creative refresh.
👀 Shoppers see first.
Not read.
Win the click. Win the customer.
We were auditing one of our listings this week to prep for Q4 and noticed 2 competitors had shifted to a newer image angle and lifestyle close-up we weren’t testing.
Less studio, more real-life context.
Subtle props (mugs, blankets, gift wrap) hinted at holiday use without screaming "sale"
So we built 2 new variants:
→ Adjusted lighting for warmth
→ Focused on texture and hand interaction
→ Added minimal seasonal cues to the background
We're testing this week.
Sometimes it's not about bad creatives.
It's about being slightly behind what's working and fixing it early.
