Being an “understanding person” is the worst kind of thing. i repeat worst. you have to understand people’s situations, their problems, their traumas. but when it comes to you, you will scream alone. absolutely alone.
I think of friendship, and I think of how significant it is to have people in your life who won’t shame you for being human. People who don’t flinch when your strength slips. People who don’t weaponize your weaknesses or turn your flaws into a punchline... 1/2
Sometimes being a good person feels like a quiet punishment. You move through life trying to be kind, patient, understanding & always giving people the benefit of the doubt, always trying to see the good in them.. yet somehow you're the one who ends up carrying the weight of everything.
You endure loss, betrayal, loneliness, responsibilities that were never meant for your shoulders and you keep going anyway because that's the only thing you know how to do. People say hardship makes you stronger, but what they don't talk about is how it also makes you tired. Tired of always being the one who survives things that should have broken you. Tired of holding a soft heart in a world that rewards cruelty.
And sometimes you sit quietly with the realisation that despite everything life has taken from you, you still chose to remain a good person even when the world gave you every reason not to.
How I built a defensive personality when someone asks me if I’m okay is still a mystery to me cause when I’m alone I feel like I need someone to talk to and express how not okay I am
Looking back, I can honestly say this is the most alone I have ever felt. Nothing prepares you for that quiet realization that you are navigating the hardest parts of life completely by yourself.
The world feels so heavy lately… people are losing their lives left and right, and tomorrow is never promised. Hug your loved ones a little tighter, check on your people, and stop taking the small moments for granted. Life is fragile.🕊️
