@Daiz42 (That said, I'm personally interested in trying to play games as most people experienced them when they originally came out, so I generally avoid widescreen hacks, texture mods, etc. But this is very much my own decision and I think people should enjoy a game however they want.)
@Daiz42 Not to mention things like framerate. Is the authorial intent of Doom to play it at the exact 35 fps cap that it originally had? What if I ran it in 1993 on a potato at 12 fps - did playing it on a substandard machine destroy the intent of the game?
@RetroGamer_Mag Beautiful. I spent a lot of otherwise boring transit time on the bus playing great games on PSP. Lumines, Wipeout Pure, Sid Meier's Pirates, the Gradius and Salamander collections, Mega Man Powered Up.
@PC98_bot 16bit Sensation seems like a really obvious answer. Other than that, lots of the late 80s and early 90s manga that influenced a lot of PC98 games: City Hunter, Gunsmith Cats, Video Girl Ai, Appleseed, etc.
Undead Mode in #Volgarr 2 is terrible! Who thought this was a good idea!? It's the worst of all possible "easy mode" solutions - it's not optional, it doesn't help players learn, you have to delete your profile to remove it (and lose practice mode at the same time). Why!?
@themanchdynasty@VOLGARR I guess, but cancel-quit-reload is hardly the most ideal way to handle this, especially since Volgarr 1 didn't have this problem. Cancel-quit-reload should be for doing 1CC attempts, not just restarting from a checkpoint.
@VOLGARR Until I finally got the 1CC on the Valkyrie path. I can't do that with Volgarr 2, because the Undead Mode kicks in and doesn't let me actually learn any checkpoints after that. If you just make it optional (ala Ninja Dog or Mario's gold leaf), I think everything would be solved.
@VOLGARR Glad to hear it. The way I played Volgarr 1, I meatbrained through it multiple times, dying constantly at every checkpoint. But I knew that every checkpoint I passed was through my own skill. I kept playing it, dying less and less each time.
@FractalBranches@Aelkus Telecoms inherently know where every call originates. Caller ID is irrelevant. Block all incoming calls from India, Russia, and China by default and you already defeat most of it. Second, call pattern analysis - robocalls from a PBX are easy to detect. But telecoms don't care.
@RottKing@snowconesolid I think you did. I think Bugs Bunny is Lost in Time (that looks like the opening Nowhere level), but other than that you got them all for sure. I think the football game is specifically NFL GameDay 99 but I'm not 100% positive. Definitely one of the GameDay titles, though.
@DominicTarason Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin. A melding of thoroughly detailed rice farming (I pulled a textbook off of my shelf to learn more about rice farming and it actually helped!) with excellent 2D combat that has the depth of fighting games, plus an excellent story.

@RetroGamer_Mag Doom II. I can always find something new yet familiar with the game. The original id-developed campaign is great but what makes Doom II really special is the incredible amount of new maps continually made for it, using the same mechanics but providing a new experience every time.
@Aelkus I wonder if part of it is the medium of expression. Hard to discuss The Zone of Interest in a single tweet or even a thread. Easy to Post about the delicate politics of Wakanda Forever on your favourite doomscrolling social media site.
