I would say the exact same to you, faith only really isn’t supported in scripture and is problematic. There MUST be some combination of faith and “works” or doing what the Lord has asked of us. Or else why does the Savior focus on the type of people we are to become? Totally unnecessary. I don’t believe Jesus spent time talking about things that were ultimately irrelevant to salvation.

Ignoring half the New Testament because works = bad and cause confusion is probably not the best approach

“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.” - Jesus in Mark 1:15

“I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” -Jesus in Luke 5:32

“…except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” - Jesus in Luke 13:3

“And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations…” -Jesus in Luke 24:47

How would you say these verses fit into your definition of the Gospel?

That’s a horrifying take. The almighty God who descended below all things decided “you know what? Screw a majority of those that will ever be born, I never loved them. In fact, I created them specifically to have eternal torment”. Yeah, no shot I believe in that God. Thankfully, the Bible shows in MANY places that God died for EVERYONE. He loves all of his children.

That process is taught every week at church and in everything spoken about. Jesus is the way, faith in Him and His atonement, following him, is the only path to return to the Father. Principles of the Gospel are taught always.

Frequently people want to point out a quote someone made in the past, even Joseph Smith, and want us to only talk about that or highlight it as the thing our religion revolves around. That’s not how we view Doctrine. It’s plainly and clearly established. No prophet is infallible, they can (and have) been wrong. The Bible makes that clear. When there is a consensus of the living prophets and scripture then doctrine is affirmed. Hopefully this makes sense, explaining over X can sometimes be muddy which I don’t intend

Hahaha wild. We literally send people around the world to speak about our beliefs. We hold a general conference twice a year where the prophets speak to the whole world. We have “Visitors Welcome” signs on every church building. There is nothing about our beliefs that are “secretive”.

People misrepresent us online allllllllll the time. It’s frustrating to hear people say “you believe this!” When I know for a fact we do NOT. People want a silver bullet hidden doctrine of ours to disprove or make us illegitimate. The doctrines are preached every week from the pulpits around the world. Nothing hidden.

The word of wisdom as a revelation wasn’t received until much later. Also, it wasn’t held as the standard until later still. Normal part of prophetic callings is revelation over time. God doesn’t give everyone everting all at once, or at least never did in the Bible. Even the Savior explained more and more to his disciples as they were ready for it.

There are better methods than social media to learn about us if you’re genuinely interested. Which I’d guess youre probably not

But according to this guy prayer and receiving a witness of God is unreliable. Jesus taught Peter knew him not of some fleshly reason but it was given to him to know by the Father.
