In a recent NDTV debate, the TVK spokesperson defended Minister Gilli Sarath’s viral video with a bizarre excuse. He claimed it was just "medicine" being crushed for a child, and that crushing this medicine was what he called "thug life." 🤦‍♀️
Here is the exact exchange that happened between us 👇
🎙️ TVK Spokesperson:
"...It was a medicine crushed for his kid. As a father, I'm doing it even with a busy match. That can also be referred to, okay? 'Thug life' can be a caption for anything, although it sounds a little difficult to believe. It's important to understand that nothing can be really decided from that video. He had a different life then, right?"
🎙️ Moderator:
"Okay, got it. How can you be branded with a few seconds? Shrinidhi, respond."
🗣️ Me (Shrinidhi):
"My co-panelist here I’ve always respected him in the past, but after joining TVK, I'm sad you have to stoop this low to actually defend a person in the ministry.
First of all, I'm a mother of two children.

We normally don't take a sick child to a match, that's the first point.

And what's the proof that the child was there? I didn't see any image or video of a child.

Earlier, the TVK guys refused the birthday cake cutting photo saying it's AI.

Now this whole video they're saying is AI.

So what's with the 'thug life' moment?

Even accepting their claim, what is so 'thug life' about crushing tablets?

It is very clearly drug abuse. 💊🚫

It raises a preliminary question: what sort of scrutiny did Mr. Vijay do before he chose his candidates? It's an utter failure of democracy.

Unlike TVK, DMK speaks with evidence. 📉 As per the MAGNITUDE OF SUBSTANCE USE in India:
•🌿 Cannabis use is only 0.1%
•💊 Opioid use is 0.26%
•⚠️ Other narcotic use is 0.36%
We have been well below the national average when it comes to Tamil Nadu.
So Vijay is just making sweeping statements..."
