IBA & NUST graduate, Business is my passion. Pakistan can only grow by letting the free market economy flourish. Liberalization, Deregulation & Privatization
This is regressive and unjustified. They even Dnt know about what’s gender dysphoria, it’s not any kind of decease its Condition and now they consider that as a criminal. autism and Down syndrome are also conditions. Humare upper jahil logo ko betha diya hai

@MiftahIsmail Politicians raise themselves above the pre-election promises if win and keep criticize everything Govt does even harmful to national interest. Youth gone disinterested as Pakistan studies curriculum is too monotonous compared to tiktok. Religious Bigotry and Dogma is at peak.
@MiftahIsmail The biggest anamoly in the economies of Israel , Pakistan and Egypt had been 90% consumption component of GDP. Even USA could afford only 80%. Capital formation is not taking place due to low savings and over reliance on Ext Debt/remittances. subsidizing consumption, how to end?
@MiftahIsmail We are going to have Fiscal Deficit of 8% of GDP for 6th consecutive year. Unrestrained money supply causing consistent depreciation of Rupee. Foreign investors are marginalized and crony capitalists rock. Masses ignorant and socialism is popular.Bureaucracy resist privatiszation
@MiftahIsmail Our Gross capital formation is 1/3rd of Bangladesh, how can we grow without investment. We are top 5 protected economy with average 16% import tariff. Lowest private sector credit offtake of 17% of GDP due continuous crowding out. You rarely give solution of these problems?
Since 1914, virtually all periods of ⚫️>5% CPI were fought via 🔵raising rates above inflation and/or 🔴recession. Stan Druckenmiller said this in an interview & he's right.
Only twice has the US survived >5% CPI without high rates/recession soon after- during wars (WW2/Korea).
Today is the birth anniversary of Dr. Abdus Salam. One of the greatest minds Pakistan ever produced, our first Nobel Prize Laureate. Our treatment of him and his legacy is a shame. Narrow and bigoted policies will always prevent us from producing another Salam.

@MuneebASikander “Competition does a much more effective job than government at protecting consumers.” “If politicians stopped meddling with things they don't understand, there would be a more drastic reduction in the size of government than anyone in either party advocates.” Thomas Sowell
After the Atif Mian podcast, another Economic masterclass is on the way as its our honour to announce that Asim Ijaz Khwaja is coming on the podcast.
What questions do you have for him?
Asim Ijaz Khwaja is a Pakistani-American economist.
Why Pakistanis/Indians can’t afford eating Pizzas and breads :
South Asian bodies are very different in their physiology from the rest of the world. We produce lesser Insulin (a hormone which keeps sugar level normal) than the other races. History suggests two main reasons :
🧵The value-added share (VAX) of Pak exports is quite high at 82% (2004 data). Another way of saying this is that, for every $1 worth of exports, only $0.18 of it has something to do with imports. One may think this is good but hold on. VAX for many East Asian economies is lower.
Savings to GDP 2021
Singapore 44.24%
Korea 36.48%
Bangladesh 36.05%
Indonesia 33.07%
India 30.23%
Turkey 30.16%
*Pakistan 12.72%
Unless we increase our savings 30% to GDP, we can't increase productivity in agri & industries & will remain in vicious cycle of BoP
