Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, graced the NIFT Convocation 2026 at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, New Delhi.

The occasion was also graced by Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Giriraj Singh, Smt. Neelam Shami Rao, Secretary (Textiles) and Smt. Tanu Kashyap, Director General, NIFT, along with other distinguished dignitaries, senior officials, faculty members, scholars and graduating students.

The Combined Convocation brought together graduating students from 20 NIFT campuses across the country, celebrating their academic excellence, creativity, dedication and achievements as they embark on a new journey in the world of fashion, design and creative industries.

In the presence of Shri Giriraj Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of Textiles, Government of India, Smt. Vrunda Manohar Desai, Textile Commissioner & Vice Chairperson, Textiles Committee, addressed the gathering during the 62nd Foundation Day Celebration of the Textiles Committee.

In her address, Smt. Desai highlighted the importance of innovation, technology, quality and digital transformation in strengthening India’s textile ecosystem and enhancing its global competitiveness. She emphasised the need for continued collaboration and efficient systems to support the growth and development of the textile sector.

The celebration marked a significant milestone in the Textiles Committee’s journey of 62 years of service, quality, innovation and contribution to India’s textile value chain.

Shri Sanjay Savkare, Hon’ble Minister of Textiles, Government of Maharashtra; Dr. M. Beena, Development Commissioner (Handlooms), Government of India; Ms. Manisha Chatterjee, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India; and Shri Kartikay Dhanda, Secretary, Textiles Committee, were also present.
