The Indian salaried class has been methodically stripped of every single inflation hedge available to it, one budget at a time.
You tried crypto. They slapped a 30% flat tax on gains, allowed no set-off of losses, and added 1% TDS on transfers.
You tried equities. Budget 2024 raised STCG from 15% to 20%, raised LTCG from 10% to 12.5%, increased STT on F&O, and also killed indexation for most other long-term capital gains.
You thought fine, I’ll diversify some savings abroad through LRS. They put 20% TCS on remittances above 10 lakhs for investments abroad.
You tried Sovereign Gold Bonds, because surely a government-issued, government-backed gold hedge would be the one clean instrument they would not mess with. Then Budget 2026 came along and removed the capital gains exemption for secondary market buyers.
And now the final insult.
The Prime Minister has publicly asked you to avoid buying physical gold for a year in the “national interest,” because gold imports use foreign exchange.
So let me get this straight. A middle class wagie earning in depreciating rupees, watching FD rates hover around 6.5% while real life inflation keeps eating his purchasing power, has now been told:
Crypto is taxed like a vice.
Equities are more expensive to hold and exit.
Foreign diversification gets hit with TCS.
SGBs are being wound down and tax-narrowed.
Buying physical gold is now unpatriotic.
Basically, every single exit from rupee depreciation has been systematically curtailed. You are expected to hold your savings in instruments the government controls, at returns the government sets, for a currency the government is rapidly inflating away.

It’s a worldview that mirrors the core logic of Hindutva politics: the state is perpetually blameless, the public perpetually insufficient, without macho Hindutva.
The film’s most telling move is how it converts failure into inevitability. The repeated mantra that enemies “only have to succeed once” isn’t insight, it’s insulation. It shuts down inquiry before it can begin. Once every disaster is framed as destiny, no one in power ever has to answer uncomfortable questions.
Curiosity is replaced with fatalism. Accountability melts into atmosphere.
By the time the credits roll, outrage has been carefully curated. Instead of anger at systemic failure, you’re left with a soft glow of reassurance. Instead of difficult questions, you get motivational quotes and swelling music. Tragedy becomes therapy.
This is propaganda in its most refined polished form, not loud, not crude, but selective. Edits memory. Rearranges blame. Teaches the audience where not to look.
Bollywood has always flirted with nationalist mythmaking, but Dhurandhar feels fully embedded in the Hindutva storytelling machine. It doesn’t interrogate power; it sanctifies it. It doesn’t challenge the state; it comforts it.
The film calls itself patriotic.
What it really offers is ideological reassurance. A 'Me Tarzan, Me Tarzan ' fake reassurance. Enough to give the audience, multiple orgasms.

why not just raise income tax rates?
because your real intent is not to just “provide healthcare”.
you’re masking that you are proposing the creation of, for the first time in the 250 years of this American republic, an organized government seizure of private property from citizens.
you’re calling it a “wealth tax” or a “billionaires tax” or “millionaires tax” or whatever nom du jour polls well. but at the end of the day, it’s the seizure of private property from citizens by the government. citizens that earned money, paid their fair taxes on those earnings (53% if they live in California) and are now being told they need to hand over after-tax assets because the government has failed to provide promised services with the revenue it’s collected, and are now re-casting their own failure to be a socio-economic inequity that must be justly resolved... a slippery slope that has never gone anywhere good (see economic effects in USSR, Cuba, Venezuela, France and Norway wealth tax etc.)

Here is an example:
John Doe starts a company. He takes a nominal salary - say $150k for this example - and the rest in equity in the company. Let’s say he owns 20%. He raises VC capital in 2026 from someone that invests $100M into the company and values the company at $6B. This means his 20% is “worth” $1.2B.
I put it in quotes because he can’t actually sell. He has a paper value that putatively says he’s a billionaire. But he actually lives on $150k because that is what his income is. Just because someone decides to make a bet on the business does not mean some bank account in your name magically gets created with $1.2B in it.
Under the proposed tax, however, John Doe would now owe $60M in cash to California in 2027.
How will he pay it?
Is there some buyer you know of, that the rest of the market doesn’t, that will do a deal at the max value when there is a distressed seller like John Doe who needs money he doesn’t have to pay taxes on value he also doesn’t have!
Now imagine that after the tax is assessed, in early 2027, the company takes a write down to $200M. Now his share is $40M. But he still owes $60M. Again, there are no buyers for his shares per se.
He still only makes $150k/yr.
What is this person supposed to do? He now has a “worth” of $40M but owes California $60M.
Should he declare bankruptcy now because he tried to start a business but was retarded enough to do it in California?
So did you really get the billionaires??
