في عام 2016، نشر Lazaridis أول دراسة كشفت وجود المكوّن Basal Eurasian في سكان الشرق الأدنى القدماء وهي الدراسة التي أعلنت عن ست رفات للنطوفيين على سلالات تخص E-M35 وتناول جزئية مهمة في دراسته
حيث ذكرأن جميع النطوفيين الذين أمكن تحديد سلالتهم الأبوية ينتمون إلى E1b1، لكنهم لم يجدوا دليلًا وراثيًا يدعم وجود أصل مرتبط بسكان أفريقيا جنوب الصحراء الحاليين.
وأشاروا إلى أن وجود الفرع الذي عمره يتجاوز 50 الق سنة E1b1 في أقدم عينات شرق أفريقيا (4500 سنه) وبلاد الشام ي (12 الف سنة وامتداد بعد ذلك ) ثير تساؤلات حول منشئها النهائي، وربما دخلت إلى الشرق الأدنى من أفريقيا.
كما اقترحوا احتمال ارتباط حاملي E1b1 بالمكوّن Basal Eurasian.
وفي النهاية خلصوا إلى أن كلا السيناريوهين لا يزالان محتملين: دخول Basal Eurasian لاحقًا من أفريقيا، أو وجوده المبكر في بلاد الشام والجزيرة العربية قبل أكثر من 100 ألف سنة.

و في عام 2018، جاءت دراسة Loosdrecht ونشرت جينومات تافوغالت لأول مرة. وهنا ظهر دليل جديد؛ إذ تبين أن أقرب السكان القدامى إلى تافوغالت هم النطوفيون، وأن أفضل نموذج لتافوغالت يعتمد أساسًا على أصل شبيه بالنطوفيين حيث وجدت أكثر من 60 % من اصولة من الشرق الأدنى والباقي فسر لاحقا من دراسة 2025 ر ندى سالم انه مكون شمال افريقي عتيق .
