@Brench71 @terrybnd @CarlisleCC Very good point Brendan! But we also need the backing of people in Carlisle generally. Outside of Carlisle we are doing really well in removing greys and protecting the Reds that we still have. 😃👍🐿🐿🐿🐿🐿🐿🐿🐿🐿🐿

A resident of Aglionby sent us this lovely video of a Red Squirrel drinking water in their garden this morning. The water was there for hedgehogs (the trail cam was also there to video the hedgehogs), but other mammals & birds will be grateful for it during warm weather!

During Red Squirrel Awareness week we pay tribute to amazing work carried out by our volunteers. In all weathers they put an incredible amount of effort into protecting our native Red Squirrels. As a result, the populations of Reds are holding on, even increasing in numbers. 😀

We recently received a grant from @cumbriacf Cumbria Community Foundation through the Laidlaw Fund for the Environment and William Milburn Charitable Trust Fund. This has enabled volunteers to continue with important Red Squirrel conservation work. We're very grateful 😃😃😃

More Red Squirrel sightings of note this week. One seen in a garden in Hallbankgate, another seen, for the 1st time in 20 years, at a farm near Roadhead, and one seen this evening in a garden in the Currock area, Carlisle (seen below - thanks to a resident for the photos & video)
