@basilYam my psychologist never gave a straight answer if i ask a direct question of right/wrong q, and the entire point IS for me to have self-trust in my own judgements
AND
she always have critical statements/questions for when im clearly doing something unwise
@majamediaco oh idk if i would put myself there! I certainly don't feel I've read a good balance! but i grew up in a very no arts must engineer/maths culture ahaha
@haikalstr i was pretty surprised by this in jkt 😭. all of the community events i had with bules in ubud are free/only costs what food you get (which you don't *have* to order) or cheap (bulutangkis for 25k per person for 2hrs)
writing a poem for my friends' wedding. they clearly like each other but i felt uninspired asking them what they love about each other.
and then i realize oh that's *MY* job!!! the poet's job IS the translation of mundane expression to a passionate speech of love and care!
the one friend i prodded to go to therapy cried in front of me on why she's scared of going and never went. the friends who i simply blab to about my experiences, who noticed that i got happier and more settled signed up w/o me ever meaning to
i once had a situationship who would go to the gym every day and work really hard, and just by mere virtue of being in his orbit, I got more organised and healthy.
spoken word not as a way to vent, but as an expansion of one's hearts and minds: a way to make legible a life so profoundly beautiful you can't help but get inspired to work hard to aspire for what has been described

it reminds me of a line from a poet I really like.
"there's nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline no matter how many times it's swept away" - Sarah Kay
persistence has such a otherwordly quality to it—an underlying fiery need or a positive delusion that things will eventually, at some point, work out. you get rejected, get ignored, get overlooked. maybe you lick your wounds. perhaps even months at a time. and yet you try again.
again and again the story of the internet seems to be "put yourself out there as you truly are and ye shall receive" FINE! I'm gonna start raving abt architecture and urban design and y'all are gonna like it! 😤
lately it feels like a new interesting character enters my life every day, sometimes three or four at once. i think i’ve met 200+ wonderful, fascinating people in the last few months, almost entirely downstream of posting on Twitter and Substack
daily PSA that the internet is not just virtual. it can turn into real, life-changing friendships, collaborations, love stories, and entire new worlds
@taotechic there's probably a way to recreate the look with glass beads that would be very affordable! but if it's semi precious stones there's a chance to get the less lustrous ones for cheap in bulk deffo
