The tiniest of the five baby elephants brought from Assam to Tamil Nadu temples.

All three legs tied. Holes through both the ears.
Weak. Frail. Famished.

And somewhere out there is her mother, Jaya.

Jaya was reportedly translocated to another State and is now said to be untraceable.

What does little Bijuli understand about temples, religion or devotion?

She only knows that she has been taken away from her mother and brought thousands of kilometres away—into a life of chains.

Kanchi Mutt already has three elephants. They had earlier sent them to a sanctuary saying they could not care for them properly, only to later get them back through court.

If this video of Bijuli does not move those responsible to act, what will?

Where is our kindness?
Where is our compassion?
And what does religion mean if we cannot show mercy to a helpless baby?

🐘 Image 1: Both mahouts appear to be pulling the baby elephant’s ears. Ankus/handling sticks are also visible.

🐘 Images 2 & 3: The baby elephant’s right ear is visibly being pulled, apparently to make the animal move.

🔪 Image 4: The same mahout appears to have a large knife/bladed weapon secured at his waist.

Why is a knife being carried while handling a baby elephant? What is it intended for?

These images raise serious questions about how this young elephant is being controlled and handled.

These five elephants are already inside temples in Tamil Nadu.

But for us, one question remains impossible to ignore:

How did each of them first enter captivity?

We are asking the Hon CM of Tamil Nadu to independently examine the Ownership Certificates, DNA, parentage, microchip records and history of all five elephants.

Because there are serious unanswered questions.

#Rupsing ‘s story is one of them.

Years before this transfer, reporting connected his microchip and history to allegations that he had been caught from the wild before later receiving captive status.

If these elephants were lawfully captive and genuinely captive-born, their DNA, parents, microchips, Ownership Certificates and official histories should all match.
