Dr. Jagdish Krishnaswamy @JagdishKrishna8 emphasises how a few researchers cannot monitor a system as complex as that of ecohydrology. That's where #citizen scientists come into play. Locals living next to the resource happen to know more and their #knowledge must be respected.
Prof. Maheshwari @basantm while speaking about the uniqueness of MARVI says that Bhoojal Jankaars can correlate rainfall to groundwater depletion. This goes to show the interface between the research team and the community.
Prof. Basant Maheshwari @basantm explains that solutions don't work well as people don't have faith in them. This increases in Citizen Science, as people's faith and confidence in the system increases. @gitikago

Western Sydney University's MARVI project, supported by @aciar and @waterpartnersau, is transforming groundwater management in Indian villages! 💧🌾
By training local women as Bhujal Jaankars (groundwater informed) and promoting female leadership in village cooperatives, MARVI empowers communities to conserve water and make smart farming choices.
“Central to MARVI’s success is its recognition of gender dynamics in groundwater management through targeted initiatives,” says project lead Distinguished Professor Basant Maheshwari, School of Science. 🌾
