Wow, 7k friends on this app! 🎉
Time for a re-introduction🔄
I'm Bas, I work on @stelviodev (AWS for Python devs), and I host a podcast @basdotfm
Say hi 👋 if you like to geek out about Serverless, Python, or DevTools!
@gfodor@yacineMTB I've tried both ways… It's funny that, of two pet projects, I had a better understanding of the one whose code I didn't read until it was done.
Are you using GitHub Actions to its full potential?
Part 5 of our guest series by @bascodes goes beyond CI with real-world recipes:
- Pre-build your DevContainers
- Auto-deploy to GitHub Pages with Hugo
- Ship Cloudflare Workers on every push

We had that same problem in the early days of SWE, before fancy design patterns and languages emerged.
AI is still early, we haven’t figured out how to best deal with it, yet.
We might never, at least not economically
Lots of lessons ahead of us to learn
Some thoughts:
I like the simplicity of TUIs and the comfort of GUIs
If you have a well-made TUI and a well-made GUI, over time the GUI is more likely to turn into garbage because of the “great UI” technology
Recent popularity of TUIs mainly driven by coding agents. That’s all very early, thus the form-factor that delivers simplicity had some head start

That’s the problem with subsidies every single time
I had no incentive running anything other than the top OpenAI or anthropic models in copilot.
Now, I wonder if a frontier model is worth 10 times the price of open weights models
Will the frontier models stick past the subsidy phase? Could be a tough awakening for anthropic and OpenAI
Its the beginning of the end of subsidized AI subscriptions. GH Copilot is moving to usage-based billing, as has Claude (for business customers.) Fair to assume more will follow.
I expect this change will also be a great boost for open models - cheaper, and pretty good already
