@SarahDivine15 Yes! What I originally thought was feedback at the beginning of this course was definitely not. I now purposely provide specific feedback to help my students know where they are and what they need to do next. It has been super powerful. #ImpactLearningKS
Throughout this course I loved how every week we found another piece of the puzzle and it all came full circle last week when we dove into Assessment-Capable Visible Learners. This has changed my instructional mindset as I prepare my lessons. #ImpactLearningKS
For our seventh week of Advanced Instructional Methods, students will reply to this tweet with their final reflections on the learning in our class. The students this fall have been nothing short of amazing! #ImpactLearningKS
@meganmreece I agree! It was reassuring that we can share power with our students and increase the learning of the students as well as their respect for themselves and others. #ImpactLearningKS
I really liked the idea of Freedom Within Form. If I can purposely structure my classroom using procedures and rituals, then I can allow my students more opportunities for choice. This empowers the students and withholds the feeling of resentment. #ImpactLearningKS
Our book study on "High Impact Instruction" by Jim Knight continues this week in Advanced Instructional Methods as we read and discuss chapters 10-15. When my students read something that impacts their classroom practices, they will retweet this and share it! #ImpactLearningKS
@CoriWarkentin Yes! I feel like we've come full circle and I've realized how intertwined the highest effects on learning are! All the pieces we've learned about all work together to help close the acheivement gap #ImpactLearningKS
Engagement is the relationship between teacher/student/content. 2 weeks ago I understood the effect of teacher-student and teacher-content. Now student-content is clear: Assessment-capable visible learners! Ss must rise to the challenge! #ImpactLearningKS#fullcircle
During our sixth week of Advanced Instructional Methods, we will be learning about how to develop assessment-capable visible learners, which empowers Ss to become their own teachers & more than triples the speed of learning (Effect Size = 1.33). Follow along at #ImpactLearningKS
@WeakleyJessica Increasing graduation rate is one of my districts goals. As an elementary school we are focusing on reducing the amount of cronic attendance issues. When students have missed a high amount of learning of the basic skills it is hard to fill the gaps. #ImpactLearningKS
@CoffeeL86003633 I really like the placemat idea for a small group table. Every student then has immediate access to sentence and question stems during discussions. I have used a chart hung behind my small group table, but I like that the students have this at their fingertips. #ImpactLearningKS
Excited to utilize this checklist when planning for cooperative learning. Not only does it provide clarity for me, it will help clarify the purpose of the tasks for my students as well! #ImpactLearningKS
Our book study on "High Impact Instruction" by
@jimknight99 continues this week in my Advanced Instructional Methods class as we explore chapters 5-9. When my students read something that impacts their classroom practices, they will retweet this and share! #ImpactLearningKS
We can't get caught up in the shiny new educational products! Hattie and Hamilton have found that 99% fail, in that they have not been deeply implemented and there is no evidence of the impact the products have on students. #ImpactLearningKS
In our fifth week of Advanced Instructional Methods, my Ss will be exploring if we are "fooling ourselves" as educators. We will study "Education Cargo Cults Must Die" by Hattie & Hamilton. Follow along at #ImpactLearningKS. Read the white paper here:

@meganmreece I love using "games" as a way to increase student engagement. Activities that would be "boring" suddenly turn into fun and exciting. It also provides an excellent opportunity to teachers to see what their students know. #ImpactLearningKS
