Pre-trial detainees (those awaiting trial or bail) make up a substantial number of total inmate population across correctional facilities in Nigeria, a bottleneck that severely strains the entire justice system.
As part of our effort under the #RoLAC Programme to reduce delays in bail administration and address congestion in correctional centres, we supported the Anambra State Government to pilot the Bail Information Management System (BIMS) within the State Judiciary⚖️
The pilot phase commenced with the deployment of BIMS equipment, followed by the training of designated Magistrates and Court Registrars at the Chief Magistrate Court, Onitsha. The training marks an important step towards improving the efficiency, transparency and effectiveness of bail administration through digital innovation.
Building on the successful implementation of BIMS in Lagos State, the system will strengthen the capture, management and monitoring of bail information, enabling justice sector actors to track bail processes more effectively and support evidence-based decision-making
Through this initiative, RoLAC continues to support the digital transformation of justice administration, contributing to more timely, transparent, and accessible justice for all👌

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Governor Radda described the budget as a people's budget, noting that it was collated from needs assessment across 361 wards in the 34 Local Governments of the state.
The Governor explained that the budget went through three layers of scrutiny - collation from the grassroots, defence by Ministries and Agencies before the Governor, and legislative scrutiny and passage by the State House of Assembly.
He commended the Speaker and members of the State House of Assembly for the early passage, pointing out that the 2027 budget was signed on 30th September, two months earlier than the 2026 budget signed on 17th November last year.
Governor Radda thanked the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning for early preparation of the proposal and charged implementing agencies to ensure timely execution. He prayed for peace in the state and success of the All Progressives Congress at all levels in the forthcoming elections.
Governor Radda further extend congratulations to Hon. Tasiu Musa Maigari, lawmaker representing Katsina, on his appointment as Nigeria's Ambassador to The Gambia, wishing him success in his new assignment.
Earlier, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Nasir Yahaya Daura, while presenting the Appropriation Law, disclosed that the House approved N190,726,262,820.44k for Recurrent Expenditure and N637,852,581,271.03k for Capital Expenditure.

2027 BUDGET: Building on Our People-Centred Development Agenda
Today, I assented to the 2027 Katsina State Appropriation Law of ₦828.58 billion, marking another important step in our commitment to delivering sustainable development and improving the lives of our people.
This is truly a people’s budget, developed through extensive needs assessment and consultations across all 361 wards in the 34 Local Government Areas of Katsina State. It reflects the priorities and aspirations expressed by our people at the grassroots.
The budget also underwent three levels of scrutiny: grassroots needs assessment and collation, defence by Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and legislative review and approval by the Katsina State House of Assembly.
I commend the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Nasir Yahaya Daura, and the entire House of Assembly for the timely passage of the budget. Signing the 2027 Appropriation Law on 30 September, almost two months earlier than the 2026 budget, demonstrates our collective determination to strengthen fiscal planning and commence implementation early.
I have therefore directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to ensure timely, efficient and transparent implementation of the approved programmes and projects. The people of Katsina expect results, and we must remain focused on delivering them.
I also appreciate the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning and his team for the early preparation of the budget, as well as all stakeholders who contributed to the process.
As we begin the implementation of this budget, our priorities remain clear: strengthening human capital, expanding infrastructure, improving healthcare and education, supporting agriculture and enterprise, creating opportunities for our young people, and building a more resilient and prosperous Katsina.
I also used the event to congratulate Hon. Tasiu Musa Maigari, Member representing Zango LGA, on his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to The Gambia. I wish him success as he takes on this important national assignment.
I pray for continued peace and stability in Katsina State and Nigeria, and for wisdom and guidance as we continue serving our people.
Building stronger cultural ties between Nigeria and France remains an important part of our shared partnership.
I was pleased to meet again with Mme Éléonore Caroit, France’s Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships and French Nationals Abroad, following our earlier engagement at the Lumière Summit.
We discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in film and audiovisual production, museums, heritage and the restitution of cultural property, including greater exchanges between creative professionals and cultural institutions.
These conversations reflect our shared commitment to building practical partnerships that create opportunities for our people and strengthen the cultural ties between Nigeria and France.

This comprehensive zero draft review ensures that the 2025 VAPP Act implementation report clearly identifies operational gaps across specific pillars, like Prevention, Prosecution, Protection, Partnership, and Policy to help inform:
1️⃣ Evidence-based policy adjustments,
2️⃣ Strengthened inter-agency collaborations, and
3️⃣ Targeted interventions that enhance survivor protection and judicial accountability across Nigeria.

The Federal Government has declared Thursday October 1st, 2026, as public holiday to mark the nation’s 66th Independence Anniversary Celebration.
The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulates all Nigerians at home and abroad on this year’s celebration of the 66th Independence anniversary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo stated that our warmth, welcoming spirit and love as well as the abundant wealth inherent in our human capital and the richness of our land, makes Nigeria unarguably the most prosperous black nation in the world being African’s pride and beacon of hope for the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

Happy 66th Independence Anniversary Nigeria!!!
E-Signed
Dr. Magdalene Ajani
Permanent Secretary,
Minister of Interior.
Bilkisu Umar, I have acknowledged your response and I will take the appropriate action accordingly. What is particularly concerning now is that, this time, you have gone beyond commenting on my public activities and have dragged my identity as a husband and father into the matter. By extension, you have brought my marital and parental life into a dispute that concerns me personally.
I have tolerated and ignored enough, but I will not allow this to continue. There is a clear line between legitimate criticism of my public views and activities and repeatedly intruding into my private and family life.
You have now crossed that line and I will address the matter through the appropriate channels.
NIGHT OF TRIBUTES
In Loving Memory of Oludotun Baiyewun Jacobs, MFR.
May God comfort his family, loved ones and all who mourn his passing. We celebrate the remarkable legacy he left behind and the impact he made on generations of Nigerians.
His legacy lives on, and we will continue to carry it forward. 🕊️
I met with Mme Catherine Pégard, France’s Minister of Culture, to deepen our cultural partnership and explore collaboration across film, creative skills, museums and heritage.
We also discussed the Agora project as an anchor for our growing partnership, alongside opportunities for Nigerian filmmakers and cultural institutions to work more closely with their French counterparts.
I look forward to building on these conversations and creating new opportunities for our creative and cultural sectors.

Celebrating Katsina State at 39
Today marks another important day in our history as I join the good people of Katsina State, at home and across the world, to celebrate 39 years of the creation of our dear state.
Since September 23, 1987, Katsina has continued to grow through the resilience, enterprise and determination of its people. Our state has produced remarkable leaders, scholars, entrepreneurs, farmers, professionals and citizens whose contributions continue to shape our communities and Nigeria at large.
As a government, we remain committed to building on this rich heritage by investing in human capital, education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure, security, economic empowerment and opportunities for our young people and women.
Our journey is not without challenges, but our collective strength, faith and commitment to a better Katsina give us every reason to remain hopeful about the future.
On this 39th anniversary, I celebrate every Katsina citizen and thank you for your continued support and prayers. We will continue to build a Katsina where every citizen has the opportunity to thrive and contribute meaningfully to our development.
Happy 39th Anniversary, Katsina State!
May Allah continue to bless Katsina State and its people, and grant us the wisdom and strength to build an even greater future.
🚨 OFFICIAL: Real Madrid statement.
“In light of the statements made by LaLiga President Javier Tebas Medrano, Real Madrid C.F. wishes to state the following:
Our club considers it intolerable for the LaLiga President to use his institutional position to repeatedly disparage and attack Real Madrid in the manner he does in every one of his public statements. It is deeply concerning that the person responsible for representing and protecting the interests of all LaLiga clubs remains obsessively fixated on Real Madrid, making our club a constant target of his public attacks.
His latest intervention is particularly serious and incomprehensible—unbecoming of a responsible administrator—as it involves commenting on an article by an independent journalist in a digital media outlet. Yet, he reacts against our club by taking the liberty of critiquing our sporting strategy—an utterly absurd and irresponsible move.
It is astonishing that the LaLiga President devotes his time and personal channels to publicly discrediting Real Madrid, rather than using his position to foster trust in the institutions charged with guaranteeing the competition's impartiality. In doing so, he continues to damage the image of our competition and of Spanish football worldwide.
Given this persistent and inappropriate behavior, we believe that professional football in Spain urgently needs a leader capable of managing the competition and unlocking its full potential while upholding the fundamental duty of neutrality. It needs someone who understands the nature of the role; the LaLiga President is not the owner of the competition, but an administrator serving the clubs that comprise it and have entrusted him with its leadership. We, the clubs, need someone who will honestly serve this mission.”
FG inaugurates Independent Committee to probe 37 deaths in NSCDC Custody
The Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, today inaugurated a 10-member Independent Investigative Committee, constituted on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to investigate the reported deaths of 37 people in NSCDC custody in Niger State.
Speaking at the inauguration in Abuja, the Minister charged the Committee to operate independently and without interference, stressing that justice remains the greatest responsibility owed to the deceased and their families.
The Committee is mandated to establish the identities of the deceased; investigate the circumstances of their arrest and detention; determine the cause and manner of death through appropriate medical and forensic examinations; establish whether negligence, misconduct, complicity or breaches of duty occurred; and recommend appropriate disciplinary action, compensation where applicable, and measures to prevent recurrence.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo directed the NSCDC leadership and relevant officers to cooperate fully and preserve all records and evidence connected to the incident. He warned that any attempt to destroy or conceal evidence, intimidate witnesses or obstruct the investigation would be treated as a serious offence.
“We owe you the truth. This committee will give you the truth. No officer, no matter how highly placed, will be shielded if found culpable,” the Minister assured Nigerians.
The Committee, chaired by Mr Jonathan Kure (Rtd.), is expected to commence work immediately and submit its report within two weeks.
