We have strong epidemiological ties between kidney disease and environmental exposures to water, food, and chemicals. However, we lack funding to conduct water testing or evaluate soil and foods. Looking for funds/ partners. @rkalyes1@ISNkidneycare@valerie_luyckx
AKI is common in the neonatal intensive care unit & is assoc w/increased morbidity & mortality. Infants w/AKI in the NICU have higher risks of long-term kidney dysfunction. Read these Consensus Conference guidelines for outpatient kidney-focused follow-up.

@rkalyes1 Brian was so hardworking and dedicated to his work. It is so sad to see the story about him. I had to buy the newspaper. It's sad for the death that occurred. And the story is sad seeing Brian in it. A young man who had an amazing future ahead of him

With @WHO's support, @MinofHealthUG has started a vaccine trial against #Ebola Sudan virus today. The trial will enroll contacts of people with the disease, and contacts of the contacts.
This vaccination trial was initiated with record speed, only three days since the outbreak was declared, while ensuring full compliance with international and national regulatory and ethical requirements. It is also the first trial to assess the clinical efficacy of a vaccine against Ebola Sudan virus disease.
This trial demonstrates the importance of investing in R&D for vaccines and treatments and outbreak response preparedness, as well as partnerships. We thank @Makerere University and @UVRIug for their leadership, as well as @AfricaCDC, @CEPIvaccines, @EC_HERA and @IDRC_CRDI for their collaboration on this lifesaving effort.
WHO will continue supporting the government in a comprehensive response to bring the outbreak under control.
An exciting new paper showing elevated uric acid in severe malaria predicts short- and long-term mortality and cognitive deficits in survivors. Potential new biomarker and pathway for intervention.

Dr.Peter Wasswa goes beyond the call of duty to take care of his patients,he is reliable, caring and compassionate. He is one of the best Hematologists and Child Oncologists in our https://t.co/IC827pWqme is therefore extremely saddening that out of the blue we woke up to an unexpected and devastating mudslinging story accusing him of being unprofessional.Whereas the family may have concerns and I appreciate those concerns,I think that Dr.Wasswa did do his best to save a life.I pray that justice prevails and the truth will be revealed. Many of Dr.Wasswa”s workmates and students have reached out to know how they can support him during this very tough period. We stand with Dr.Peter Wasswa.
