@biathlonanalyt1 If the metric is % time behind the fastest skier, that is misleading if this year's top skier is having a sensational start. (The times are skewed.) And would an athlete even want to be in peak form in early December, and to have to carry that form into the Olympics?
@rahowarth@WomensRunning Actually, it *does* help. Is it perfect? Of course not. But *most* folks getting sick now are unvaccinated. And cities with vaccine mandates have far lower rates of transmissions. The numbers are out there.
@maggieNYT Why are we (that's *you*) even giving Trump airtime here? As Trump knows only too well, if he repeats the lie enough, it becomes real. Ignore him.
@BenRosario1@AliceWright01 Ben, I have a question about form. @AliceWright01 is very upright as she runs. InternRay's head is clearly out in front of his center of gravity. Two very different styles. Do you work on form with your runners? (I have my h.s. girls focus on "nice and tall.")
@sweatscience I don't have an issue with ski mountaineering going into the Olympics, but . . . . that just says it's high time for runners to be able to race cross country in the Summer Games!
@sherman_news@KansasReflector As a Jew, I find this offensive. As an American, I find it sad that we have no true understanding of history. As a contrarian, I wonder why we give *any* media attention to these nuts.
@the__harrier Make the Boston Marathon great again - like back in the '70s. Rigorous qualifying times; no charity bibs; make it a true "achievement" to run the race.
@Salmon__Salad@stevemagness@Strava Actually, I think "perceived effort," which is essentially what Strava tracks, is pretty accurate (in general terms). And the reality is, for 99% of us, we never make our "easy" days truly easy. And that might be what the algorithm is picking up on.
@fast_women I actually prefer racing (and watching) a 5k race. The runners push the pace right from the start. Watching a marathon on tv, I could literally fast forward to the 20-mile mark, as it typically doesn't get interesting until then . . . .
@lindsaycrouse I love the energy of NYC Marathon and actually set my marathon PB back in the day (3:01). In person you soak up the amazing electric energy of the city. Watching on TV, not so great, sadly . . Maybe a marathon is hard to capture on TV, or maybe NBC just doesn't care.
@EricAsimov Great article. Ultimately Thanksgiving is about the people sitting around the table, enjoying a great meal & thankful that we've gotten through another year . . . .
