In January, the Labour Party was under immense pressure to act on the rape gangs. After public uproar, they announced these local inquiries in order to quell that rage. In a way, it worked. The anger subsided, and the debate moved on. At the very least, there would be some minor investigations that may lead to something greater.

For them to announce, on the last day of Parliament before recess with barely any notice, that even this pathetic effort was to be binned? It’s low, even for the Labour Party.

Why have they done it? Primarily, they are petrified of the organised Muslim vote in a growing number of their constituencies - they don’t want to lose their seats to the pro-Gaza independents.

Sectarian politics is here to stay. It will grow and grow and grow. Demands for Pakistani airports will soon be the least of our concerns.

It's scary.

We have now raised over £525,000 in under two weeks for our inquiry into the rape gangs, a number growing every day.

I invite MPs from all political parties to join our efforts.

Labour, Conservative, Reform, Lib Dem. This is not a party political issue. It's about good versus evil. I will work with anyone.

As has been well documented, I am an independent MP. I’m not doing this for votes in May, I’m doing it to hopefully assist in delivering some form of justice.

Amendments backed by the Govt, tabled at the last possible moment for the last day of the Assisted Suicide Bill Committee, create a power for ministers to change the founding purpose of the NHS. Giving patients lethal drugs wouldn't fit the original ('to secure improvement in the health of the people' - see below from the 1946 Act) so it would be added to this clause as another purpose.
