(ignore me/imo time 😅) i honestly can’t be mad at #xiezheng for keeping up the facade. from what i can tell and from what i've seen in other cdramas, he stepped in b/c he didn’t want #fanchangyu to take the beating. that’s why he had to keep up the lie that he was just a soldier. they wouldn’t punish the marquis the same way.

as her husband, he chose to take the punishment himself b/c the military runs on laws, discipline, and strict hierarchy. and beyond that, he also has to think about the lives of hundreds of soldiers under his command.

i’m not saying #fanchangyu doesn’t have the right to be angry when she finds out he lied to her. her feelings are completely valid. but i don’t really understand why all the hate is directed only at xiezheng. there are expectations and responsibilities he has to carry as a marquis. he's only trying to protect her in his way, as she is trying to protect him in her own way too.

and there are other layers to this as well. overall, the circumstances haven’t really allowed him to be completely honest with her. but that’s part of their journey — growing not only as a couple, but also as individuals.

i do love how he gets his soldiers to play along. they're probably confuse af at his behavior 😂
